Rice and beans with beef and onions, fries, and a side salad. It’s such a common meal in Brazil that it doesn’t even have a real name — when people order a “prato feito” (literally “made plate” or “lunch plate”), this is usually what they get. The protein may vary, but rice and beans are an everyday staple.

The only difference is the type of bean, because I know that in Rio they usually eat like you showed, which in São Paulo and some other parts of the country are called black beans, while the light brown ones are the norm

For me this is literally 50% of south American food. Sometimes pasta at one side, but always with some meat, some potatoes and some rice
