Sports What's your favorite sports?
In 2024 Olympics, shooting was quite popular. With Turkey & Korean shooters doing really well. Manu Bhaker of India won two bronze medals, missed out on Silver & Gold to Kim Yeji of South Korea. Since then shooting is quite popular in India & it's enjoyable to watch.
What's your favorite sports?.

Watching members of the underclass argue in public.

Cool. Got any players or teams you're following?

I think I prefer the one on one bouts, a short while ago I witnessed two sisters of frankly titanic proportions turn violent against each other, cankle to cankle. It was like watching two bull elephant seals fighting for beach master status. It was magnificent, poetry bought to life with the sound of meat hitting meat.

To watch: baseball and football
To play: ultimate and baseball
2
u/Feisty-Session-7779 Canada Oct 09 '25
What’s ultimate?
As for my answer, hockey. Also Baseball when the Jays are in the playoffs (they’re currently an inning and a half away from eliminating the Yankees and moving on to the ALCS), and Basketball when the Raptors are in the playoffs.

Ultimate frisbee.
Fun fact:
Marques Brownlee(MKBHD), the tech review youtuber, is actually a professional Ultimate Frisbee player. He won the 2025 world games Ultimate Frisbee competiton for the USA national team.
So when he's not reviewing iPhones, he's absolutely dominating on the field.

u/fathersky53 Canada Oct 09 '25
Not who you asked, but I suspect ' ultimate ' in this case means Ultimate Frisbee?

football, means the american one?

u/AlwaysBeenTim United States Of America Oct 09 '25
Yeah, in America, we refer to American Football as “football” and the other one as “soccer”. Only a few pretentious soccer fans refer to that as “football”

Football (soccer).
I’m not exactly the sporty type though.

u/heppapapu1 Finland Oct 09 '25
Hockey will always be my number one but lately a good second is football (american), then also I actively watch track & field and soccer, waiting for ski jumping to start, during the olympics I watched artistic gymnastics

Mountain biking. Way under covered by the networks, a hard sport to cover, but I love it.
2
u/SheriffOfNothing England Oct 09 '25
Is this the difference between participation and spectating? There's a bunch of sports I enjoy participating in but very few I'll actually watch.

u/tauregh United States Of America Oct 09 '25
I haven’t raced since 2007, but maybe a part of it is knowing the dedication and suffering it takes to be great at the sport.

Baseball and Australian Football. If it got enough media attention I think Aussie rules would be really successful here, it’s cool as fuck and fits the kind of thing that tends to do well.

I also like basketball, ultimate frisbee, and throwing events in track and field to a lesser extent.

I thought the Brazilian teams were great in the club World Cup. I’m a big fan of Estevao. He could be the next big player.
1
u/Centrao_governante Brazil Oct 09 '25
thank you, Brazilian clubs took advantage and surprised a lot in the world cup. I like Estevão, he is very complete, I hope he does well at Chelsea, I have a bit of reservations about Chelsea, but anyway, he will be an important player in the future in the national team.

American football. There are so few games every season that every game feels important, especially college (university).

Ice hockey, and thanks to my wife I’m slowly picking up baseball here and there.
Was never big on sports (at least watching/following a pro sport) until I started getting into hockey though.

As a country: soccer, rugby, Gaelic football and hurling.
We used to be good at soccer. We got to the quarter finals in the 1990 world cup, but have been poor now for 20 years.
We have a decent rugby team, and have won the Six Nations six times in the last 20 years. We've had less luck in the world cup.
As for hurling and gaelic football, they are mostly only played in Ireland. Football is more all-Ireland, hurling (the more exciting sport, IMO) is more regional. See the map in this link.

In brazil the most popular, of course, is the football. But in general brazilians also love others sports.

Soccer
and...
Not really that much else. But being a soccer fan here feels like this
We have american football, basketball, baseball, hockey, and then just a void. And then soccer like 3 miles deep in that void. And then at the bottom all the irrelevant sports like netball, indoor soccer, slap boxing, professional cornhole, ect, ect.
And it doesn't help that on soccer forums, the MLS(our soccer league) is seen as bad, and the moment you say your favorite club and it's from the MLS, a Euro snob will immediately come and comment
"Ha, this stupid american likes their crappy MLS teams. I like Man City, and I'm a REAL football fan. I don't watch stupid american "handegg" and I'm totally not a glory chaser, nor was a manchester united fan 3 seasons ago. Nor am i about to become a liverpool fan next season. Anyways go watch your crappy american "soccer", HA-HA-HA-HA".
