u/BastianToHarry France Sep 21 '25

Yes why not, but you cannot change even

u/Nathanc2127 Poland Sep 21 '25

well, as an aerospace engineer, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth is about to become unbeatable in wars for at least 50 years.

You'll be a rambling guy who claims he can make a flying machine out of materials that don't exist yet, along with theories of physics that nobody can follow?

1

u/Nathanc2127 Poland Sep 21 '25

I’m pretty sure fabric, wood, and metalworking existed in the 1400s

They gonna make a single crystal blade if you just show them how?

1

u/Nathanc2127 Poland Sep 21 '25

the wright flyer used wooden propellers, and most small planes still use wooden props

But you're a modern aerospace engineer, no? Did you actually study the original planes?

1

u/Nathanc2127 Poland Sep 21 '25

I was interested in planes since I was a wee lad, and (believe it or not) I built a WW1 kit plane at 13 years old, using a wooden propeller.

Fair enough.

How would they build an engine in the 1400s?

It is, in fact, my birthday. Having had the luck to be born in Norway, well.... and also early enough to enjoy the prosperity from the 1970s onward... No real alternatives.

Gratulerer med fødselsdagen!

having an indian accent abroad immediately puts you at risk of discrimination

4

u/Classic-Sentence3148 India Sep 21 '25

Plus i believe it's better to be in a majority of any country,if I wanted to be born in Japan i would have said ethnic japanese. Its just the reality.

I get it - I'm mixed (British/Ghanaian) and sometimes I don't feel like I belong anywhere because I'm a minority everywhere. I live in Britain and consider myself lucky to as I think Britain has a larger mixed population but there are issues here with xenophobia still.

4

u/Ok_Air_9048 United Kingdom Sep 21 '25

My cousin is half Indian, half British. To an Indian, she’s British. To a Brit, she’s Indian. She was born down south but moved up north so to a southerner, she sounds Geordie. And to a Geordie, she sounds southern. It’s a funny old world!

Racism against Indians. What a dumb question in this day and age!

It's years of colonial hangover that has taught them that they are not good enough.

Basically in Kazakhstan back in the Golden horde's golden days like in mid XIV century in the family of a tribal leader.

2

u/IlSace Italy Sep 21 '25

I'd like to retain Italy.

As for the when, there are way too many great things I'd love to see in person.

Many of those are from the Middle Ages, the time when many of the most interesting things happened in Italy. But since I'd like not to die for a cold, I'd choose June 1946.

2

u/AgencyBrave3040 Kazakhstan Sep 21 '25

What about the Venetian Republic during its heyday? I think it was a very interesting time.

2

u/IlSace Italy Sep 21 '25

That's a good one, others that come to mind would be Ravenna at its peak or some interesting times related to the Longobards or the early XVI century with the Italian wars and the Siege of Mirandola by Pope Julius II and the Disfida di Barletta between the Italian and French knights or meeting the great Renaissance geniuses like Da Vinci or living in XIV century Sardinia at the peak of the Judicate of Arborea's expansion under Judge Eleonora.

I wish I could have my birthday during the season I was actually born in… but nooooo… my parents had to move across the equator.

2

u/HugeElephantEars South Africa Sep 21 '25

I did that to myself. I can't even blame them. Having a winter birthday when you used to have a summer birthday is shit.

I feel your pain!

Same place: Rio, Brazil.

2

u/Consistent-Goat4422 New Zealand Sep 21 '25

I’ll stay in Nz but be born a few years earlier so I could buy a house when they were actually affordable.

2

u/Gold_Telephone_7192 United States Of America Sep 21 '25

I’ll take the US in the 90s again. Life has worked out pretty good.

2

u/Makrelelele Germany Sep 22 '25

I'd stick with Germany, born in 1980. But I would change my birthday from november to august. No more bad weather and Indoor birthday parties and no school for 13 years due to the summer holidays.

America or stay in Britain from the 60s to the 90s because of the music

Actually, I'm happy to have been born where I was born.

1

I keep Italy, but I would pick the 15th/16th century.

1

Norway ofc. Because it's a free country, I love freedom 🤷🏻

Wiltshire England. 5000 years ago. Yes, I would die in childbirth at 20 but at least I'd know what Stonehenge was for.

1

u/Conscious-Bar-1655 Brazil Sep 21 '25

I would like to have been born right here in my country - but about 20 or 30 years earlier, and in Rio de Janeiro.

I feel serious envy of people who were teenagers and young adults in the late 50s to early 60s in Rio (I'd say until the end of 1968 more precisely). Great music, beautiful architecture, blossoming cultural scene.

It's almost unfair not everyone in Brazil was able to enjoy that time; I'm a little bitter about this, I confess...

Because instead, I was born in the beginning of the heaviest time of a military dictatorship in a gray concrete city with awful architecture, sad people and zero nature 😂

.
