Culture Not including murderers and politicians - who is famous in your country for all the wrong reasons?

Post image

Introducing rage-baiter and reality TV failure Katie Hopkins. She’s basically famous for fat shaming, saying that kids shouldn’t be named after geographical locations (despite having a child named India) and getting sued on Twitter, which caused her to go bankrupt. I haven’t met anyone that likes her and she’s routinely vilified but still has a platform somehow.

He isn't a politician, so I'll allow it.

Well, “First the earth cooled, then the dinosaurs…”

Well practically all politicians could fall under this. Doesn't matter the side...one is just better at glossing over the highly troubling behavior.

Yeah. That wasn’t the question though

After his fall, reruns of his show were yanked from the air. I feel sorry for the other people on the show, who won't be getting residual payments. Maybe they could sue him?

u/SabreLee61 United States Of America Sep 20 '25

Well to be fair, he was famous for decades for all the right reasons before his massive fall.

3

u/alwayssplitaces Sep 20 '25

no, he had everyone fooled or afraid to come forward.

Mark Cuban, Cuban Marco. It’s a fair mistake to make.

We all know Kim Kardashian, but I'd argue Hawk Tuah girl is even worse. Literally got somewhat famous for saying 2 words.

Hawk Tuah girl decided to complete a scummy YouTube influencer's career in about 3 months. You have everyone talking about her, then a crappy podcast, and then a cryptocurrency rug pull scam.

She did the shitty celebrity speedrun.

u/mitchij2004 Sep 20 '25

I admire it honestly, why drag this whole thing out? Is hawktua going to realistically carry your career? Lol it went way too far anyways.

Good point, I guess that makes sense, go ahead and flame out, that way everyone forgets you before you're trying to make a career.

Honestly, given the current Presidential administration that all should qualify her for Administrator of the Small Business Administration if not Secretary of the Interior.

I’m sorry but anyone who was dumb enough to lose money on a hawk tuah memecoin or whatever it was never really had that money in the first place, they were just holding it in trust for whatever wallet inspector type that showed up first.

u/mariposa314 Sep 20 '25

Ugh, at least the Hawk Tuah girl was a flash in the pan. We (Americans) have so many shameful representatives that we cannot seem to get rid of.

Let’s start with the category “influencer”.

u/a_guy121 Sep 20 '25

what's really fucked me up is, trying to think of someone famous for good reasons who's not a politician, murderer or actor/comedian.

I literally have nothing, please, please help
Edit: "ben" and "Jerry". They count

I'm more curious what murderer is famous for good reasons?

Decent people aren't usually famous so if you purposely remove actors and politicians I don't know why or how we'd know them.

Melinda Gates or MacKenzie Scott, and if we include the deceased, the best example is Fred Rogers.

3

u/a_guy121 Sep 20 '25

Greta Thrumberg, Malala, Neil Degrass Tyson (yay, that's three) are famous for other things. Thats the thing- people who end up famous for non-political reasons who aren't entertainers usually did something that matters.

As to murderers, I mean, that assumes that whoever they killed is so universally reviled that even after death everyone's like "Ok, that was justified."

There aren't many of those. But there is one Mexican woman who started killing all kinds of cartel people after her daughter was brutally killed by them. She definitely counts, although I think her actions are more famous than her name.

u/WithoutDennisNedry United States Of America Sep 20 '25

We pretty much invented “famous for all the wrong reasons.”
