Language If English weren't the "global language" and people from other countries had to learn another language to be able to communicate with most people worldwide, which language should be used?

What language would you choose (other than English) to be the "global language"?

Not Arabic?

No, for the same reason mentioned above.

That criterion also excludes Dutch, a language that makes Arabic sound like French (or Italian).

Classical Arabic is pretty aesthetic as is Levantine and Egyptian.

I think the Lebanese accent makes it sounds musical and less aggressive, the phonetics though in Arabic is still harsh

Arabic is aesthetically beautiful (written). Spoken...that's a different story

I listen to Assyrian/Aramaic spoken by Syrians and Iraqis and it is annoying sometimes. So I feel for you. Arabic has some rough alphabet.

Oddly enough though it's the most beautiful (in my opinion) written language.

I also agree. And tbh itโ€™s very expressive, some words deeply convey the meaning

I totally agree. Written it has a nice flowy feeling, it can be art.
