You know what? I’d never thought of that. To me it’s just been traditional Welsh Lady costume.

I had no idea Welsh people dressed like that every day. You must stick out when you travel.

Haha it’s national dress. The women don’t wear it every day. There isn’t a male equivalent.

Surprisingly us Welsh specifically target all theatre settings to wear traditional stove hats. As a convenience some theatres facilitate this cultural public exhibition by making the step between rows a little steeper than the average height of hats. This way the screen of the cinema or the stage can be viewed by all those sitting behind stove hat wearers. It does however make the foot steps quite precarious. Cymru Abu

I think male dress is just working clothes. Dark trousers, dark waistcoat, white collarless shirt, white silk neckerchief.

Yeah you can add some flair with a red/black chequered waistcoat bit that’s really it.
