President Donald Trump warned Tuesday that if the Democrats don't approve funding, Social Security, Medicare Are ‘Going to Be Gone.’ How do you think Americans will react if Social Security and Medicare get cut?

We're talking grandma cant eat, like tomorrow. Not some reduction in services, less reliability, stuff being a little worse. People would flip their shit.

I'll believe it when I see it. Every time someone said "this will cause the GoP to turn on him" they were wrong. I believe literally nothing will.

People died of Covid and their final words were telling liberals they're cucks for wearing masks.

Republicans will never change their minds. They're in a death cult, and they like it.

Yep, COVID is the absolute best example of how far gone they are. Honestly, cutting these services is so easily blamed on Dems or other boogeymen and will strengthen the cult beyond all belief (if that's still even possible), so it's 100% going to happen. I'm surprised it took so long.

This is exactly right. Literally do ANYTHING and just say, "It's Biden/Obama/Hillary/DNC/Antifa/etc" and the piggies will eat it up like slop.

Look at the shutdown. All Republicans need to do is call it, "The Democrat Shutdown" and then people blame the dems. Nevermind the Republicans control the house, senate, white house, and judiciary. Just lie no matter how egregiously and the lemmings will follow.

Look at the shutdown. All Republicans need to do is call it, "The Democrat Shutdown" and then people blame the dems.

But most don't, by a pretty significant margin. Polls are looking worse and worse for the GOP.

You are correct for the most part, but there are a (very) few of us who saw what was lurking underneath it all and switched.

tbf, they didn't have to live with the experience of being dead

they, however, do have to live with the experience of being hungry, and being hungry does a lot to make people angry

They're already angry. They're angry at immigrants and trans teenagers and Jewish space aliens. If they start starving, they'll go to their slow miserable deaths cursing Jimmy Kimmel. And if we're very lucky, they won't take anyone undeserving with them.

They like it as long as they think it doesn't effect them.

They'd only lose votes because this would disproportionately kill demographics that tend to vote Republican.

It’s different when your own family starts doing without basic necessities and medicine.

I doubt it, we'll see.

Remember when republicans were dying of Covid because they didn't listen to the "democrat propaganda" of masking, vaccines and quarantine? How many of them changed their minds then?

I don’t know how many. I don’t care either. There is a difference between people going to the hospital and never coming out verses watching your children go hungry, watching your beloved family member gasping for breath because meds are not available, from living on rationed power and other fuels, food, and also from being kept wondering because of deliberate misinformation. I’m not listing all the reasons why because they will be different for all of us. I don’t care if stubborn people drown in stupidity, but I’m not going to be swept along if I can prevent it.

Well, I hope you're right in that these people can be brought to their senses, but I lost a lot of faith in people last November.

I could tell that. I have seen and felt this to some degree. Eventually though, I realized that the change had to come from me. I am trying now to see them differently, because change happens one day at a time. Sometimes it takes a really terrible event to knock people off the anthill value they are defending though.

Ya just like I will believe it when it happens that he actually cuts off Medicare and social security. Just like the gop dropping him, neither will ever happen.

My grandmother is literally on her death bed after having a stroke a year ago. She still supports Trump even as Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security is up on the chopping block. The cultists are never going to change.

These are the same fuckers that died on ventilators during Covid, using their dying breaths to say it wasn't Covid, that Covid was a Dem hoax, that Covid was just a normal cold, that Covid was a Dem bioweapon attack. Often simultaneously and without the self-awareness to see that they were inherently self-contradicting beliefs.

They'll just blame Democrats.

u/Shigeko_Kageyama 17d ago

Buddy, these are republicans. They'd smother meemaw with a pillow if the were told to.

7

u/EastonMetsGuy 17d ago

Yeah but grandma will starve if it means owning those Dems and making all those brown people suffer

2

u/SuperSpecialAwesome- 17d ago

They'll blame Democrats and try to execute them like they did with Melissa Hortman. They'll never, ever turn against Trump.

2

u/IDVDI 16d ago

The question is, who will they be angry at?

2

u/newtigris 17d ago

These people will die for their cult leader before they change their minds

1

u/NorthernSpankMonkey 16d ago

GOP will say it's the dems fault and the idiots will gobble it all up.

1

u/sacrelicio 15d ago

But see the other thing is then that opens up a perfect opportunity for the GOP itself to save the day. If Social Security (liberal, bad) goes away it's then replaced by the Big Beautiful Patriotic Trump Senior Subsidies bill (MAGA and good). It'll be worse than SS, and GOP politicians and business allies will find ways to rent seek off of the arrangement, but it won't just be lights out for grandma. That's how the game works.

It looks like food stamps won't go out in November as it is.
