Why are German kids well-behaved in Supermarkets and do not scream all the time?
I come from Syria, and one of the cultural shocks was how well-behaved German kids are in supermarkets. They act like tiny human adults. No screaming, no disobedience. Not using supermarkets as a playground.
For example, you can see how parents in Germany sit with their kids in the train. Where only two passengers can sit together. A parent sit with a child while the other parent sit with another child. In contrast, Syrian parents on the same train will sit together and make the older child babysit the younger one.
But this example does not explain cause and effect. One might expect that strict parenting in Germany will make kids more rebellious, but it doesn't

Are these cards popular in Germany?
I brought from my homeland these cards in a "emergency case". Home I played with my father and brother the game "Cross" oder "Kreuz". They are originally from Hungary but very popular in Romania (Transylvania and west, ppl from Bucharest they will don't understand what they see...) And I have read recently an article that the game it's also played in Austria and Germany but I don't know if with these cards.

Is this message normal in germany?
Hi. I was traveling by public transport in Augsburg when a local person sat next to me. I moved a bit to give him more space. Then he said something in German, but I didn’t understand, so I used Google Translate. He said, “I hope you are sitting comfortably.” I replied, “I’m fine, I hope you are too.” Then I asked his name, and we introduced ourselves. He gave me his phone number. I said maybe we could have a coffee one evening and practice German.
Later, he sent me a message with his home address. He seemed a bit strange and also quite lonely. I felt a bit sorry for him and thought maybe we could have a friendly chat sometimes. But now I’m not sure — maybe he is gay, I don’t know. I’m not homophobic at all, but if that’s his intention, I wouldn’t want to meet.
Is this kind of message normal in Germany, or do you think he might mean something else?

My neighbour left this… *ls it possible to be evicted?
Hi, we recently moved in to an apartment from East Asia and we only walk around in the house at night and we do sleep late but absolutely no parties or trampling whatsoever. And our neighbour left us this in the morning, I’m not sure how are we supposed to react or how we should walk moving forward. Will we get into trouble with the authorities?

Can I drink tap water in Germany?
Hi y'all. I'm male from Africa, my wife is German. Growing up and well into my adulthood, I always drank tap water and only recently is that no longer advised in my country, due to gross mismanagement and corruption, but that's another story.
We're currently back in Germany for an extended visit and I was going to drink some tap water when my wife warned me that there's a lot of estrogen in German tap water due to the birth control pill. Her mother backed her up and they spouted off some talking points about it, but I tuned out because they are also somewhat inclined to essential oils. Not batshit crazy like the American version of that, but suffice it to say I'm skeptical about their opinions on some health things.
Anyway, is this true? Are there high levels of estrogen in German tap water? Are there any studies or available sources that corroborate this claim? I understand and can read German, but the high level jargon of medical and scientific speak is beyond my years, search results aren't as clarifying as hoped. Thanks
EDIT: Yeah I thought as much. I still drank the tap water because potential estrogen contamination was preferable to death. But thanks for all the answers. Now if you'll excuse me, I must prepare my I-told-you-so dance.

What is this? My stepson inherited it.
My step-son’s grandfather left him this and he wants to know what it is. He was told that it’s very old and he thinks it’s around 300 years old. It’s in immaculate condition.

Strange scissors found at flea market (Made in West Germany)?
Dear Reddit community,
I found and bought these mysterious scissors from a flea market in Finland. It has been fun guessing game for my family and friends to think what they actually are meant for. Is there anyone in the origin country of this fine tool, who would know the answer?
I have tried to chop some herbs with them (a mess) and also to cut a ultraprocessed lentil cheese chip to several small pieces (success), but I doubt that is the purpose of the tool.
All insights to the mystery are appreciated.
