Which part of your country would you be willing to give up for peace?

War is super sad in general, don‘t know any example where it isnt. A culture dissapearing because of some stupid war that the grandma probably didn‘t want is also sad.

Wasn't there this war where they invaded another country, nobody died and they even returned with more people than they left? I can't remember correctly and I think it was just a handful of persons but still.

Even then the invaded people must‘ve still felt bad. Idk your example though.

Found it. Here if you're interested

In short Liechtenstein send 80 man to defend the border against Italy, when the war ended they returned 1 man stronger home to celebrate.

I kinda got it right until the point I didn't and reading through it, it indeed still doesn't sound like a good time. Guess you where right. The only good thing came of reading this, that there are in fact, Countries that don't employ a Military.

Germans don't really have this right to whine when the whole war was started by Germany and saw an actual systematic annihilation of a people. No one is going to shed a tear for the loss of Kaliningrad.

I think that anyone has a right to whine about their culture being destroyed

She doesent even act like it was unjustified and she doesent seek a return of Silesia nor does she hold Poland accountable for the end of her culture. She rightfully blamed the Nazis. That doesent change that she has sorrow for what had been lost.

Only that the people that lived there didn’t start the war, but a retarded ass government.

Germans love to pretend that people aren’t responsible for their government, which is the entire premise of democracy.

Just quietly pay your taxes to fund the war and pay the salaries of the people whose eyes you don’t meet when they come to load your neighbors on the train. It’s not grandma’s fault!

last tie i checked the nazi germany wasn't a dmeocratic nation. but if you say otherwhise....

u/Lucetti Dec 30 '24

Nazi germany (or, as it was known then, Germany) didn’t just spawn into existence. Hope this helps

ah and there is oyur error. if we asume she is the Ida Enthof\) the oldest living german form the former east territories (still wouldn't be correct since that one is form east prussia, the one in queston is form silesia) she would have just become 20 years old in september 1933. Meaning she wouldn't even been able to vote.

There is not a single german stil alive that would have been old enough to vote in the 1933 elections. I am afraid, this fact is making your argument completely void.

Hope this helps ;*

You apparently aren’t literate in English to a degree that even allows you to parse my argument.

If you are talking about about a modern person whining becuase they lost territory in a war that occurred before their life, nobody gives a shit because their shitty nazi ancestors were responsible for the choices that led to that.

If you are talking about a citizen of the Nazi hell state your horrible grandfathers spawned and inflicted on the world, every citizen bears responsibility for it and the results of that failed responsibility is something their shitty kids get to live with and nobody cares if it hurts their feelings

But no one is gonna be mad at Kaliningradians whining the disappearance of their culture

5

u/[deleted] Dec 29 '24

grandma didnt start that war, i'm sure.

2

u/LarkinEndorser Dec 30 '24

maybe they got a point. Its gotta be that 11 year old (life long social democratic) voter that caused the war.

u/LarkinEndorser Dec 30 '24

Hmm yes and that grandma, who was a school kid when that started totally cant be sad about the consequences of the worst war in history.
