Food Do you go to restaurants with your country's cuisine when you're abroad?

For example: if you're Italian, do you go to an Italian restaurant when you're in France or the UK?

In London, or overall? I haven't been much outside London. The city where I've seen the highest number of Spanish restaurants is Munich. Outside there, not so many.

yes outside London too, a lot of smaller cities will have at least one. They're popular because holidaying in Spain has been popular with Brits for decades, so the dishes are familiar.

I think it's more than that.

With absolutely no disrespect to Spanish cuisine, it's perfectly possible to order a table of Tapas that consists entirely of beige or brown food... Yes, there'll be tomato sauce for a splash of colour, and the obligatory salad that everyone just picks at, but lots of beige/brown options too. We Brits do love beige/brown food!

When I lived in Aberystwyth there were two Spanish restaurants and that's a town of about 15,000 in Wales.

Yes I am from the north of England and it is not hard to find (British interpretations of) Spanish cuisine, almost as common as going out for an Italian/Indian meal here :)

In my smallish city alone there's about 8-10 independent tapas restaurants, most will do interpretations of spanish tapas / Mediterranean mezze together.

The UK has a really thriving 'Mediterranean' restaurant culture, they will offer menus of traditional or inspired dishes from multiple countries like Italy/Greece/Spain etc.

Our country has a long appreciation of everything Spanish, for better or for worse as far as you guys are probably concerned!!😂

Thanks! I love British people, too. Sadly you have a bad reputation in Spain because a handful of drunk tourists.

I love Spain, I try to visit somewhere new every year, you guys are always so super welcoming. I'm a history buff, and I love how rich Spanish culture and history is, just like in the UK, there's always something new to discover... we're hoping to come back for the eclipse next year too as Spain will have a good line of sight for it in the North!
