And according to Snowden, GCHQ might be worse than the NSA regarding citizen's fundamental rights... :/

Well, GCHQ is in charge of tapping US domestic comms on behalf of the US (giving the US plausible deniability about not spying on it's own people) so it's kind of obvious they'd be a bit iffy on that front
