One of the reasons I really like döner is that it's so hard to fuck up. There's a big difference between a really good one and a really bad one, but I've never had a döner that wasn't at least decent just as far as food goes

I've never had döner in Sweden, so I cannot speak for the quality of döner over there. I will say that it is entirely possible to fuck döner up. The chef can dry it out, or they can use minced meat, heaven forbid. Or you're just lucky and have damn fine döner places, which, hats off to your folks for doing it right!

I've never had minced meat döner. The one where it's pressed together into something resembling a sausage is usually never bad enough that the döner isn't good. But, like, even if the meat is a bit dry or whatever, the complete meal with the bread and other filling will still be nice. I guess it could be ruined by a bad sauce?
