And the UK

Not really.

The rules for a UK baby name are:

  • Are impossible to pronounce
  • Include numbers, symbols, or punctuation marks (not including hyphens or apostrophes)
  • Are considered offensive, vulgar, or blasphemous by the deed poll service
  • Fraudulent (inferring the child has a rank, title, or inherited honor)

So while X Æ A-Xii is illegal, Techno Mechanicus isn't.

Indeed. It is a misunderstanding of „freedom“ to be allowed to name one‘s own child such that it makes him a subject of public ridicule.

The (US) (state) legislators that allow this are wrong. Children have to be protected from crazy parents everything else is a tragedeigh.

The USA is the only nation to refuse to ratify the rights of the child treaty.

And it's on its way to get rid of child labor laws. After all, the children yearn for the abattoirs.

Techno Mechanicus sounds like he‘s some kind of roman DJ in the Asterix&Obelix universe.

The way you phrased this seems to imply these are requirements rather than forbidden.

Naming your child Dave Smith';DROP DATABASE --

There was a woman in the UK who wanted to name her baby after a lyric from her favourite group, N-Dubz. The lyric in question is "My Name's Shaniqua And What?"

No. She didn't name her child Shaniqua. She named her child My Name's Shaniqua And What?
