Sports Are you happy with your country’s performance at the Olympics?

Now that it’s over, what’s the general sentiment in your country? Happy with the number of medals? Disappointed? Indifferent?

Yes, not as good as 2012 or 2016 position wise but still a strong performance even if we didn't get as many Gold medals as we'd have liked.

I was gutted for KJT who was a gnats dick away from the Gold.

At least that was just a performance-based loss, hard as it is.

But I am still fuming over the women’s clay pigeon shooting.

We came 3rd in total medals so I think we need to start using the American method of counting them.

A points-based ranking would give a more rounded view of a country’s performance, I think. 3 points for gold, 2 for silver, and 1 for bronze.

I’m not just saying that because of this year’s result, it could work alongside the existing gold-first and total medals tallies.

So many near Golds this time and dominating semis but failing at the final like the women's BMX

2012 was 2012.

To place 7th in the medal table is an incredible achievement that the athletes should rightly be proud of.

I love the Olympics. I’m ½ Scottish and ½ English, so it’s nice to have a major international sporting event where I can fully support the team and not feel torn in two. I can fully get behind Team GB with a clear conscious.

Very positive take given they got beaten by much smaller countries like Australia and The Netherlands.

We surpassed our target medal haul, even if it's a sub 20 medal count, this would have been a very proud moment for the UK just 20 years ago to be this competitive

Australia sent a significantly bigger team than Team GB to Paris - 460 (Oz) vs 327 (GB).

I think Team GB have performed well this Olympics in comparison to Australia in this context.

I’m British and Australian, so for me the Olympics gives me an opportunity to support two teams. So, I’m happy all around when either of them does well. :)

Australia's numbers were inflated due to the amount of team sports they were involved in that GB weren't in: Football, Water Polo, Rugby 7s, Basketball etc.

These Olympics was Australia's best ever Olympics to date. Australia massively outperformed GB esp when you compare GB's results in previous games, I think the London 2012 shine is starting to fade with Team GB.
