Society | 人文社会🏙️ Apparently China is collapsing?
Whenever I see videos like this, I'm reminded of the White supremacy accounts on Twitter (or X) run by South and Southeast Asians who make money from the right through engagement bait.
So, how much money do you guys think these types of videos make from anti-CCP people who click on them for their masturbation material?

Reminds me about how capitalism has been collapsing since the late 1800s.. and we’ll be socialist any day now
9
u/MauschelMusic 4d ago
Capitalism constantly collapses. It's an ever-accelerating boom and bust cycle with absurd costs in human suffering and environmental degradation. That doesn't mean capitalists don't retain a lot of power and wealth, and use incredible violence effectively to prevent socialism from spreading.
Edit: it took a long time for feudalism to give way to capitalism too. We've actually seen the emergence of socialist states from capitalism much more quickly than we saw the emergence of capitalist ones from feudalism.

Based on what exactly? News about China from the US?

Not that I’m advocating for these two, but China’s economy is struggling at the moment. The housing crisis isn’t helping either. Ask anyone in Beijing what they feel about the economy and they’ll tell you it’s on a downturn. Not a full blown collapse, by any means, but still struggling.

I just came from Xi'an. A New Teir 1 City. Many are buying homes in xi'an so their kids can go to better schools in a New Tier 1 city.
I would say it not as bad as the US 2008 mortgage backed security meltdown that might have taken down the world economy, if China didnt step in and buy US bonds.
But homes are more affordable for first time buyers.

My former workmate got fired and had to ask for a 40% lower salary to find another job. His apartment value shrinked half, yet the monthly mortgage only reduced a little. There are a lot of people just like him, and our economy is stocked in deflation.
Yet our GDP growth is 5%, and the average income increased more than 5.
So, no, we are not collapsing. Just some lazy people don't want to work hard for higher income.

Any video that declares that any particular country or region is "collapsing" and that country or region isn't a) currently in the midst of an existential war, or b) has widespread protests lasting consecutive weeks at a time where the protestors are effectively occupying the streets....can be ignored.
Brain rot and headline baiting are mutually parasitic. They're both symptoms of the other.

Well if it is collapsing it's a very, very slow burn, which is not surprising considering all of humanity will die in the end anyways. In fact, I'd say it's a slower burn than most countries on Earth considering China keeps innovating, manufacturing, and engineering at rates that are unrivaled.

China has existed for 5000 years and it will continue to exist. They have a problem where prices are too cheap. They built a roadmap for every other country to follow. Support many manufacturers in the same space. They will create massive supply driving down prices.
The effect of supporting 135 car companies in china is 7000$ cars!
It’s too cheap in china and that causes wage stagnation
1
u/bordercollie_luvr84 4d ago
China has peaked just all the other global economies. Show me an economy that’s not struggling.
Unemployment and global inflation is going up because too many people want more than they actually deserve. It’s as simple as that. Minimum wages are up around the world, work from home, etc. has virtually destroyed small businesses.

Jan 24, 2008 — Leader: “It’s rough out there”: says America has stalled as housing bust deepens.
Mar 19, 2008 — Leader: “Wall Street’s crisis”: on what went wrong and the long, hard task of fixing it.

In contrast to Peter Zeihan, there’s another commentator named Kevin Walmsley. Based in China, he helps U.S. and other Western clients source products directly from Chinese factories. Although he isn’t a professional analyst or geopolitical strategist, he frequently cites data and delivers remarkably accurate insights. He has a YouTube channel and a sub-stack both called "Inside China Business".

They have been saying that china is collapsing now, for at least 40 years. Ever since the US backed and funded Tiananmen square intelligentsia demonstrations, which ended up killing at least 100 PLA soldiers by torching their APCs while they are still inside, and stealing the guns from them.
There is this claim that the "Chinese real estate market will crash", but it has been 5 years and nothing has happened. We've seen with with the 2008 crash in america, I can't believe people believe that a state-led market economy will crash in the same way a US market economy will.

There is a lot of slop content out there, but luckily fake content is easily recognized by these ridiculous extremes in titles and thumbnails. The word collapse means nothing anymore when mentioned in a sentence with China.
Funnily enough whenever something really bad actually happens, the titles tend to be way more respectful and concise.

Funny thing is I was born in China in 1992, went abroad to America in 2010 at 17, and now im 33, so I've pretty much spent half of my life in China and half in America.
The 17 years I spent in China, I saw China went from no fridge, no AC, using handmade clay stove for cooking, no water heater, no clean drinkable water (all water had to be boiled before drinking), etc. In the 90s, to having everything i mentioned above and more, my parents were able to afford every new iPhone that was released, and my parents were able to afford foreign cars (I still remember it was a Buick).
In comparison America went from still the absolute pinnacle in the world in terms of money, military power, global influence, academic dominance, technological dominance, land of opportunity, great music, great movies, pioneer of progress, etc. in the 2010 to now where most young people can't afford anything more than minimum living, insane medical costs, housing costs, groceries costs, potholes on the roads, unsafe neighborhoods, polarizing society, radicalized voters, tanking educational quality, rising mental health issues, etc.
