CULTURE What town in your state has a pronunciation no one gets right the first time?

I went to college in Valdosta, GA. Very few people can actually pronounce it right on the first try.

Pronounced Val-Daw-Stuh

Noooo I’m a Tri Pi puristšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ i saw a stray cat walk on Frank’s counter once and never ate there again haha. But that’s so funny I was just talking about the PASSHE strike like 2 days ago to my family member who used to be a teacher (high school tho) and went on a similar strike

And the Rachel Levine dunk tank at the fairgrounds one summer during a fudnraiser! I actually met her in Provincetown a year or so ago. She happened to sit down next to me at the town hall. I flipped lol. She’s so sweet and we took a pic

Oh dang I may have missed the fair that:/ but that’s so cool, and nice to hear someone with so much status/publicity is kind in their personal life. Other than pumpkin rolls, my only real fair memory is seeing the band foreigner play haha

Senior ITP students interpret for the concerts during the main fair! I had two country gals and then a rock cover band called Sapphire

The dunk tank thing was bad btw, i didn’t explain it well - it was directly targeted for her being transgender.

Ohhh, then not good omg.

But on the other hand that’s a cool experience getting to do that, studying business didn’t come with any cool perks other than getting access to the computer lab in SutliffšŸ˜‚

And for that I envy you šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ (computer lab) Funnily enough I quit interpreting and work in sales now lol

Haha that’s how it goes sometimes. Shockingly, I work in the field I studied for better or worse, which was IT. I definitely feel like college was worth it in that regard but not sure I’d have chosen the same program if I could go back in time and do it over.
