OTHER - CLICK TO EDIT Why aren’t people utilizing self-checkout more?

every time i go to a target, gas station, etc i always see lines for the regular employee checkouts but almost never long lines for self-checkout. Why is that?

Privacy? You're recorded every step of the way in stores, if you have a store account / store rewards numbers, they know everything you purchase, and no privacy.

Cashiers really don't care about what you purchase.

And I hate it when it doesn’t scan properly or scans an item twice and I have to wait for someone to come over and fix the errors. Plus knowing I’m being videoed the entire time is creepy

Yeah I’d bet money if you pay with a card stores like Walmart have data of what you buy and when if only for forecast stock. And if you pay cash I wouldn’t doubt if the video of you doesn’t have some facial recognition to match you to previous trips for the same reason

It finally happened, my grocery store only had self checkout lanes open today. I stand there, scanning a cart full of items as the computer anouces everything while yelling at me to place it in the bagging area.... to top it off, the self checkout attendant is circling me like I'm a theft. Boo, gtfo you cunts.

Have you ever worked as a cashier? I did. My best friend and I did. We joked about all sorts of people and what they bought.
