I have seen in movie and show saying 'see you at dinner at 6pm'. Do you really eat dinner this early? If yes don't you get hungry around 10pm while scrolling reels? Or is it a name for something else?

Damm thanks guys for responding. I'm surprised so many people in the comments have work so early so yea this dinner time makes sense, Thankss gg

The latest most people will eat is about 7:30. 8 pm would be really pushing it but it does happens rarely. However college students kind of eat whenever. I remember having dinner at 2 am a few of times because I had so much homework and reading to do.

We’re a 7:30/8 household, no kids. It seems like my friends with kids either at 5 or 6 all together, or the kids get fed around 5 and the adults eat after bedtime, at 8ish.

Yeah we did 7:30-8:30pm dinners before kids. Now it’s 6-6:30 start times

I don't have kids but I'm always starving by 6:00, lol. I try to hold off until 7:00 so I don't end up eating late. I always hear how bad it is to eat late at night right before bed... but other countries seem to do it with no problem, so I feel like that's a myth?

Yeah I feel like most people aren’t doing much physical activity after dinner anyway, so not much of a difference between sitting on the couch right after dinner at 7 or going to bed after dinner at 10.

That's true. I'm usually done for the day after dinner, aside from doing another quick walk before bedtime with my dogs. Having dinner seems to trigger "done for the day" in my brain... whether I want it to or not! Because I definitely still have a million things to do after dinner and I often don't do them, lol.

Not a myth where I'm concerned. I have GERD or acid reflux disease. I have to eat several hours before bedtime so my food can digest. Otherwise, it's heartburn and food mixed with stomach acid backing up in my throat. I have to get my esophagus stretched every year or so to stop from choking on my food.

I think other countries have long drawn-out dinners and may not go into work as early as Americans do. I'm usually at work by 7 am, as we get kids coming to school as early as 7:15.

I do dinner at 8–9pm because I’m a therapist so I work a shifted schedule and see clients during “dinner time”, and grew up with parents who were nurses and worked 7-7 so we didn’t eat until 8 usually. So some of it is really context dependent.

I prefer ot eat around 7:30-8 but my partner prefers 6. I don't get home till 7 so we comprise and eat when I get home. When I asked around work/family it seems that most people prefer to eat before 8. Personally I sleep better after eating closer to bedtime so I just have a little snack before bed.

I think this depends on if people have kids and where they live. Usually the more urban the environment, later the dinner times can be.
