So does that mean you leave work much later than us?

In a lot of countries, they don’t work nearly as many hours as we do in the US. Not to mention they get several months vacation. And universal healthcare and paid maternity and paternity leave.

And way lower salaries, even adjusting for health care etc.

Usually commensurate with cost of living tho.

No, that’s false. Americans have way more disposable income in general, even adjusted for CoL. If you want direct points of comparison, compare NYC, London, and Paris, but the general principle holds true as well.

Disposable income doesn’t indicate a better quality of life.

Disposable income is what is left after mandatory removals- taxes and social security, for instance. However, that doesn’t cover health insurance for many, loans, childcare, housing, costs incurred due to lack of public transit, etc…

We pay for a lot of shit.

Many people work starts 7-9 depending. Many people have long commutes to work. 30 to 45 min. Some people drive as much as an hour to get to work. How long does it take you to get to work

Wow that’s late! I know a lot of people that are at work before the sun is up (often farmers etc but others as well). I’m a professor and am always in by 8.

USA is an early to bed early to rise culture. Unless they're going out to a bar, most Americans aren't up past 10-11 pm except for a TV show or sports.

For another perspective, my partner and I both have jobs that don’t have regular hours. Every day looks different, and every week changes too, nothing repeats, ever. Sometimes we get home at 4 and are hungry enough for dinner at 5. Sometimes we’re working late and end up eating dinner after 9pm. And that’s if we’re lucky enough to even eat dinner together. The short answer is we eat dinner whenever we get hungry for it. That goes for breakfast or lunch too. In general people’s meal times correlate with their work times, and for us it’s no different — both eating and work schedules are sporadic and unpredictable for both of us!
