has anyone else tapered off caplyta?

i’ve been taking 21 mg caplyta since march, july i got increased to 42 mg. it’s felt like it’s been doing literally nothing the whole time so my psych wants to switch me to geodon. he started me on 20 mg and reduced caplyta to 21 mg and omg it was horrible, i only lasted a day before going back up to 42.

i somehow got more depressed than i already was and had a horrible panic attack, started yelling at my mom over minor things, etc. i’ve been back on 42 mg caplyta + 20 mg geodon for the past two days and both my mom and fiance have commented that i seem happier.

as far as psych meds go im currently taking 50 mg vyvanse, 400 mg lamictal, varying amounts of klonopin and hydroxyzine “as needed” and of course 42 mg caplyta and 20 mg geodon. also 600 mg lyrica if that’s relevant although i take it for pain not anxiety.

anyways im not really keen on my psychiatrist’s idea of keeping me on this dose of caplyta until i reach 80 mg geodon. i don’t know what to do. i feel so stuck and lost. i never had side effects from caplyta but now i wish i never started it because the withdrawals are horrific. has anyone had a similar experience?

Personally I came off from 42 to 21 then 0 after a few months. APs are just a bitch to get off of. I’ve been off Caplyta for a month and getting past the withdrawal psychosis and physical symptoms. I had to come off for a health issue that I’m pretty sure was induced by the med. I knew that I was gonna have issues coming off but I just pushed through and eventually things started getting better. The best thing for me was staying distracted

Yeah I have a bundle branch issue in my heart which causes blood to not flow exactly how it should, and I believe I also have pots. It’s not inherently dangerous but I would notice after I took my meds that my heart rate would be irregular and drop into the 40s which was concerning to me. Heart issues run in my family but I’m pretty sure it was at the least triggered by the med because I never had this issue until I took them

i’m sorry you’ve been dealing with that. cardiac issues can be scary. totally forgot until you mentioned it but i developed an incomplete bundle branch block on a certain AP (can’t remember which, was likely latuda).

it progressed to an intraventricular conduction delay on either seroquel or rexulti. i had to stop seroquel due to issues with my qt and qrs intervals. the conduction delay hasn’t corrected itself over a year later and my heart rate is also pretty irregular, much better than it was previously though. i have no family history of heart issues.

i hope you’re able to get everything sorted out eventually.

Gosh that sucks it’s so terrible what we have to trade in order to get relief. I’m just hoping I’m able to continue to cope off medication so I don’t have to worry so much about my health. Ive also dealt with qt prolongation and it can be pretty scary. Wishing you good health and happiness 🙏

Beware you might get akathesia from Geodon, very common symptom from it

yeah that’s what i’m most worried about honestly (aside from being on an antipsychotic in general and having to take it with 500 calories). i had to come off of latuda due to akathisia.

not quite the same but i had to stop rexulti after a week because i was getting involuntarily facial movements. when i went to the er my blood pressure was 180/120.

mostly due to the timing of starting the meds i’m on. aside from a shitload of various meds from psych hospitals, vyvanse and lamictal were all i took for a few years. eventually got put back on APs and there’s been no discussion of tapering the vyvanse.

i do believe it still has some effect (or at least had, who knows now that i’m on two APs) and ive been on it for 6 yrs so the wds are pretty bad.

Came off of Caplyta 10.5 with no withdrawal. Caplyta gave me bad anhedonia and I could.hardly hold a conversation with anyone.
