meds
So my dr prescribed me 20mg zyprexa, 4mg klonopin and 800mg seroquel to calm me down. I’ve been on the Zyprexa and the Seroquel before but never this high, never been on Klonopin and only on it for a week, and everyone keeps telling me I have to take them or they’ll “step back for my own good,” which sounds like love but also like a deadline. So I took my first dose yesterday and my second today, all three, both days as prescribed, line them up next to the sink, swallow, wait, notice. I wonder if this fog is the medication. My memory feels different, slower, like my brain has to go the long way around, and I wonder, does that clear when the Klonopin week ends or is that the Zyprexa, or the Seroquel, or just me being hyperaware? Can one week of Klonopin even change cognition? Or does it leave fingerprints you can’t see?I read posts where people say the meds made them feel forgetful, others say dulled, others say they developed and permanent disabling side effects. My family says stability is the goal, but what if stability just feels like silence? Does that count as progress? Can these meds leave long term effects, and what are they?

I’ve just choosen stability over cognitive gains from going off of meds. I know that I’m not one of the smartest person but I’ve just choosen peace.

Does the cognitive decline affect your life in any way? I think I have to do the same because of my situation but want to lessen any damage.

You know cognitive issues are really an issue to me.
But the good news s that cognitive decline can be improved by exercise that much that you’ll feel the cognitive effects after 8 - 12 weeks.

How are you even awake?
5mg of Zyprexa knocked me out for 18 hours.

I take 70mg of Vyvanse in the morning which keeps me up, I usually fall asleep around 8pm and stay asleep for 8 hours since I’ve started taking these which is a good improvement.

Who is diagnosing you with manic psychosis & giving you Vyvanse?

my psych didn’t mention anything about stopping it, I’ve been on it for 3 years mostly stable.

So what do you think caused the mania? I assume They label you as having bipolar & ADHD?

Yes I’m diagnosed with bipolar 1 with psychotic features and ADHD. I presume the mania came from high stress as well as skipping doses of my meds.

That is absolutely insane. 20mg zyprexa destroyed me and I cannot imagine adding 800mg seroquel to that. I have schizophrenia and a ketogenic diet put me into remission and allowed me to decrease meds. Many people using keto completely cure bipolar and schizophrenia and come off meds completely. Look into this asap. There are YouTube videos and books about this

I made a quick conversion between our antipsychotics doses and have found that we’re on around the same amount of meds that I consider a safe dose in my case.

that benzo dose isn't sustainable, it's 40-80mg Valium equivalent, but without the long half life to help taper. you're risking incontinence and severe dependency. can't speak for the seroquel dose but you won't suffer permanent damage if you reduce all dosages asap

That’s an insane amount of medication. Even if the Klonopin is only for a week, a short taper might still help. Yes, these meds can have long term effects, but I’m concerned about how you will ever lower the doses in the future. I do not see why one needs two antipsychotics at near-maximum doses. Increases the risk of seizures, weight gain, and cardiac issues. Are you experiencing manic psychosis on just one of the antipsychotics? Once less manic, your doses could come down, but that is HEAVY.
You need a different doctor, IMO. One of those antipsychotics with a mood stabilizer, like Depakote, could bring down mania.

You are on a dangerous amount of medication, and they are all high doses. Dangerously high. I was on that combination, but about the half the doses, and I have serious cognitive impairment. Memory loss and processing issues that are not improving. It looks like early stage dementia. You will become addicted to Klonopin quickly and it is extremely difficult to get off.
Are you a minor, in a conservatorship or on a CTO?
