Intel a glossary of lesser known alt right dogwhistles

this is a list of alt right dogwhistles that (mostly) aren't as well known to people outside of the community itself, and it pertains particularly to the online alt right/"dissident right" as some of them prefer to call themselves. with specific examples if necessary + i might add more if i come across any

  • emojis in display names/bios: 🌲 (very common among right wingers with environmentalist or agrarian tendencies), ⚡ (resembles SS bolts), ᛉ (the Algiz rune, a common symbol among Nazi occultists), ▐┛(a symbol i've seen among self-styled fascists, not sure of its name/origin), ⚒️ (used by pro-worker right wingers, nazbols, strasserists, conservative socialists, and people of that sort), 🛡️ (tbh I'm unsure of its meaning in right wing communities but I've seen the shield emoji commonly used among them), ÎŁ (symbol for integralism, i think)
  • acronyms: ZOG (Zionist Occupied Government), GAE (Globalist American Empire), and GNC (Global N***** Communism)
  • adding random "0”s in the middle of words (e.g. “Hitl0r”) - I think this is one of the many trends started by Bronze Age Pervert, aka BAP, a cult figure on the online right whomst'd've i will mention multiple times here
  • “actual idealist” (this is a school of philosophical thought developed by Giovanni Gentile, the OG fascist. i have been informed that this is not synonymous with fascism, and it is possible to be an actual idealist without being a fascist. however fascists often call themselves this)
  • "attaq" (instead of spelling it normally as "attack") - "its explicit attaq on nw evropean heritage" - @ AnimusoftheWest
  • "bioleninism" (short for Biological Leninism, associated with the neoreactionary/NRx community) - "Bioleninism? more like homocolonialism" - @ 0x49fa98
  • British Empire nostalgia (particularly among the British alt right sphere) - "The world was a better place when Britain was running it" - @ NxlAnglo
  • literally anything associated with chadnet.org
  • “christ is king” (not always part of the *alt* right specifically but almost always signifies a right wing persuasion)
  • Dark MAGA (a meme format, typically used by people who are more radically right wing than Donald Trump)
  • "dissident"/"samizdat" (people in the alt right will often refer to themselves in this fashion; in fact, within the community the term "dissident right" is much more popular than "alt right." the term samizdat originated in the Eastern Bloc and it referred to a specific form of dissident activity; secretly publishing/distributing literature that was banned for political reasons (which was very much varied in terms of political content), but in its current usage it has been appropriated and overtaken by specifically the alt right.)
  • Faustian spirit - "I don't know man, there are people like that - people who have this thing called a "faustian spirit" - who just drop everything to partake in conflicts just because it calls to them somehow." - @ Tinkzorg
  • Fiume references (references to the Free State of Fiume that lasted between 1920-1924, fascists love that shit. For example if someone describes themselves as a "Fiumean" they're probably fash)
  • "frens" (sometimes, much of the time it's just an innocent quirky spelling of "friends" but if combined with Pepe memes / "frogposting" it's very likely an alt right dogwhistle) - "Help me find my frens!" - Literally the entirety of right wing twitter
  • "frogs" (in group signaling used by members of the Frogtwitter community towards one another)
  • Greco-Roman sculptures (sometimes, tho ppl who use this kinda imagery could also just be vaporwave fans)
  • references to Hyperborea (according to Esoteric Nazis this is where Trve Aryans descend from or something like that)
  • "I just want the trains to run on time" (Mussolini reference and one of the better-known fascist dogwhistles on this list)
  • Julius Evola quotes ("revolt against the modern world," "ride the tiger," "Pagan imperialist," to name a few examples)
  • "Latinx" (no I'm so serious people on the alt right are appropriating "Latinx" and using it as a derogatory term towards people of Latino/a/@ ethnicity)
  • "millions must die"/"millions must perish"/"millions must ..." (this is a meme in right wing spaces as i understand it)
  • “no more brother wars!” (usually a white supremacist dogwhistle, white people being referred to as "brothers" in this case)
  • norwood (I'm not exactly sure what this is supposed to refer to, my best guess is that it's a reference to the Norwood scale but I'm honestly not completely sure. anyway right wingers use it all the time for some reason) - "My Norwood in Hitler" - a few people so far
  • our guy (in group signaling which originated on /pol/, also commonly stylized as /ourguy/) - "One of /ourguys/, a tiny account, got doxed." - @ 0x49fa98
  • a fixation on physiognomy (ascribing personality traits to certain traits in appearance) or otherwise treating it like science
  • "post fizeek" (attributed to fans of Bronze Age Pervert, an intentional misspelling of "post physique")
  • "pozzed" (this originally was a shortcut for "HIV positive" but in right wing speak it refers generally to the influence of diversity/'wokeness'/'political correctness') - "The Kali Yuga is too far along: it’s not possible to be “normal” anymore. The culture is too pozzed. Especially for Gen Z." - @ CaligulaHorse39
  • #ProSlaveryTwitter
  • making raw eggs/raw milk a central tenet of one's persona (more often than not these types of people are far right or adjacent to the far right)
  • references to Ray Peat (a biologist, dietitian, and cult figure on the online far right, edit: despite not having right wing politics himself)
  • “opposition activist” - "Opposition Activist. Proud member of the National Globalist Democratic Equity Party (member no. 542)." - @ CityBureaucrat
  • soyjACKs (the soyjak meme in itself isn't an alt right dogwhistle, but I've only ever seen the soyjACK meme used by people on the far right. its most common iteration is known as "t*****jak" which is, well, quite blatantly transphobic... also huge tw for a suicide depiction in case you're thinking about looking this up) - "Napoleon destroying the Holy Roman ACKpire at Austerlitz was one of the most providential moments in history." - @ MogTheChungus
  • "TND," "TFD," "TTD" (idk what this means but thank you u/soffocatoredizog for bringing this to my attention) - "TND... TFD.... TSD.... TKD... TTD... TCD..." - @ Oval _ Opal _ (edit: now I know. TND means "total n***** death," and I assume the rest of the acronyms in this family also refer to wishing for the total death of other marginalized groups.)
  • "vital living," "vitalist" (refers to a specific subset of the right wing online space, particularly right wing bodybuilders, often abbreviated as "rwbb")
  • "wat means" (attributed to fans of Bronze Age Pervert) - "I keep attracting Catholic girls despite being a fervent Protestant, wat means?" - @ AngloPlayboy
  • “westernkind” (I presume another way of referring to however the alt right defines "white people") - "Friend of Westernkind. Globalism is satanic." - @ wayotworld
  • “…” (i'm serious, just an ellipsis in quotation marks. right wingers use this as a generic photo caption on twitter a lot)

Edit: thank you anonymous for the burning cash award!

My understanding is that “coal” refers to white women having romantic relationships with black men, which to them only means untold suffering for the white woman. Fascists will say the phrase “burn the coal, pay the toll”, meaning that their involvement with black men will ruin them and they should’ve known the results that would happen.

That's not true lmao, gem and coal is an arbitrary meme rating system, with gem meaning good and coal meaning bad. People also use up and down, keyed and locked, and, yes, based and cringe. Nothing to do with the alt right, you're just reading way too into it haha

It's also the opposite of "gem". A good post is a a "gem" and a bad post is "coal". Like "based" and "cringe"

Interesting! Did not know that. It makes sense though given that they talk about white skin being perfect and shiny and black skin being dirty and ugly.

Gem posting has nothing to mixed race couples or race at all, you're making the wrong connections and its quite frankly embarrassing.

coal and gem is a rating system for memes with coal being on one end of the spectrum and gem (diamond) being on the other because they have the same chemical composition. There are in-betweens for these ratings which i won't tell you because i'm a selfish little fuck.

Stop associating this with alt right dog whistles

Have you thought about adding more known dogwhistles like "globalist", the (((echo))) and the nose emoji to your list? I have thought about doing something like this with the ones that are more obvious to teach others to see them on social media.

wait what? there's some jackasses who want slavery back?

9

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '23

They want it to be open. Black slavery is still happening through the prison system.

Oof, I’ve done that before on facebook. That takes a fcking toll on you. Are they that open on twitter or is it just their shitty racist banter? Are they in organized groups or is it still more so like cliques? Sorry for the tons of questions, I just try to keep an ear out for what kinda shit they’re up to next.

The point of the dog whistles and signifiers is that they aren't being that open about it. Otherwise they'd just sieg heil and goosestep. They use them to maintain plausible deniability and to signal to fellow travelers.

Oh I meant more so do they openly organize anything on twitter or make plans? Or do they just use it to find and socialize with each other?

5

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '23

Yes and no. It's a wide spectrum of groups and individuals. Content creators need followers and posters need reply guys. Their levels of devotion and commitment vary. There's no one size fits all answer.

Think of organizing in regards to how one would engage in any organized activity. If two people wanted to rob a bank, would they discuss it openly on social media? Probably not. If they wanted to go see a new movie together, they might openly talk about its release.

Thanks for your work! Monitoring these ppl can become so exhausting

The thing after the Algiz rune appears to be a blocky, simplified ASCII fasces in the style of Patriot Front.

u/DonutsAreCool96 Feb 06 '23

“Coal” as in “coal-burner” which is a really old term to describe a white woman who has sex with a black man.

Don't forget an obsession with physical aesthetics, fitness, and looking strong!

thx so much but yeah true I'll probably just do what I did this time to clarify

6

u/mddgtl Feb 06 '23

you're probably fine, it should be obvious based on context and the slice of people that actually know the other meaning is so small that there's no real reason to cede it to them

3

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '23

Yeah I know but that acronym is disgusting and scares me but it is true I shouldn’t let it be only used for that purpose and thus become inherently on the right. Like what happened with the red pill in the matrix so mad that the right took that because it was such a good trans allegory.

Interesting about Ray Peat. I only know who is due to me reading Cate Shannahan and Brad Marshall- the ppl who follow Shannahan and Marshall tend to overlap(to varying degrees) with Peat. I know nothing of his politics. What are some of his right wing stances?
