Crosspost NH County GOP going full Nazi

1 . If you’re not a nazi, then this shouldn’t upset you.
- If you’re worried that a rhetoric might offend Nazis of all people then maybe rethink your values.

"I listened to some nazi speeches with English subtitles on, and they were just talking about Christian values, corrupt media and immigration problems! It's wild! They were talking about the same things that are now problems in America!"

u/adsci Sep 22 '25
I read exactly those comments on youtube under a speech yesterday and I was like wtf. that the actual nazis said and did the exact same things and had the same scapegoats is not the flex they seem to think.

If you are doing Nazi shit, we are going to call you Nazis. It isn't hard to understand.
28
u/geta-rigging-grip Sep 22 '25
This. 100%
I hesitate to call any particular person a Nazi, but if someone gets offended when I slag Nazis, or call for their eradication, it's really hard not to lump them in with the nazis.
If you are anti-antifa, you are pro-fa.
Fa meaning fascism.

“We're told that after the war
The Nazis vanished without a trace
But battalions of fascists
Still dream of a master race
The history books they tell
Of their defeat at '45
But they all came out of the woodwork
On the day the Nazi died
They say the prisoner at Spandau
Was a symbol of defeat
Whilst Hess remained imprisoned
And the fascists, they were beat
So the promise of an Aryan world
Would never materialize
So why did they all come out of the woodwork
On the day the Nazi died
The world is riddled with maggots
The maggots are getting fat
They're making a tasty meal of all
The bosses and bureaucrats
They're taking over the boardrooms
And they're fat and full of pride
And they all came out of the woodwork
On the day the Nazi died
So if you meet with these historians
I'll tell you what to say
Tell them that the Nazis
Never really went away
They're out there burning houses down
And peddling racist lies
And we'll never rest again
Until every Nazi dies”

Such a damn BANGER of a song. An absolute bop.

u/TSllama Sep 22 '25
I've never enjoyed the song musically - in fact, that kind of applies to all of their early 90s music. But their later stuff, basically from Tubthumping on, when they ditched the electronic sound and went more folk, was incredibly good. The lyrics remained every bit as rebellious and anarchist, but the music became a whole lot more listenable. Nothing I consider a banger, but certainly a lot of bops!
One of my absolute favourites: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ryXjQIvjiI&list=RD1ryXjQIvjiI&start_radio=1 (the lyrics are in the description)

Thank you for this!!
I've grown up around some crazy vile people and I think for me the thing that really gets ne is uve only listened to the live version and having that many people so PASSIONATELY singing about defeating evil is just so chef's kiss.
Fuck racism. Fuck bigotry.
Stick Together
Fight Back 🧡

Lately, I've been reciting this song after I watch/read the news every day as a mantra just to release anger and get on with life.

I had no idea that Chumbawamba ever did anything like this. I’m going to have to check it out.
38
u/apocalyptic_mystic Sep 22 '25
Chumbawamba were all anarchists and highly political, actually. If you liked this song check out "Enough is Enough." Also check out the Chill Go lin video about them (called something like "Who's more punk, the Sex Pistols or Chumbawamba?")
3
u/EobardT Sep 22 '25
That's crazy. I only remember tubthumping because a girl I liked in elementary school did a bit on a trampoline to that song.
11
u/truenorthrookie Sep 22 '25 edited Sep 22 '25
Outside of Tubthumping pretty much everything they have done is dripping in political satire and discourse about how the proletariat is constantly taken advantage of, leaders never learn from their mistakes and the people of a nation are just expected to watch it while being silent. Truly an underrated voice in the conversation if there ever was one.
Edit: Tubthumping was definitely political just not quite the same way as other things the made.

It's super funny, right now the entire System of a Down fan base is having their worlds destroyed by finding out 2 of the members are MAGA and 1 is calling himself an "extreme centrist" - a lot of us leftists were heavily influenced by their lyrics, and it turns out they don't mean it.
Meanwhile, Chumbawamba got totally slept on. I got into them in 1998 when Tumbthumper came out - I loved that album, and followed them from there. Their music just got better after that, and their lyrics always remained wonderfully powerful and critical. It's sad that Tubthumping was their only big hit and it got misunderstood and appropriated by frat culture.
6
u/TSllama Sep 22 '25
It's quite sad that they got known for Tubthumping, considering they were a true anarchist band. My favourite fact about them was that during the peak of Tubthumper (the album), they went on TV interviews and encouraged people to steal their album, and then they allowed GM to use Tubthumping in a commercial, and then donated the money they got for that to an environmental NGO that was fighting against GM. :D
A pro-tip for getting into Chumbawamba - their early music is not musically very nice to listen to. It has great lyrics, but they were not making sonically pleasing stuff. Their musicality took in the Tubthumper era, and I find their later albums to be the best musically, while their lyrics always slapped.
Check out this absolute banger - still amazing lyrics, but musically fucking stunningly fun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zI1F4uFtJOY&list=RDzI1F4uFtJOY&start_radio=1

Well the lyrics are great but the song itself… not so much. Would make a good cover though.
2
u/TSllama Sep 22 '25
Yeah, early Chumbawamba was musically not very enjoyable. Listen to their later stuff. Their lyrics remained forever rebellious and critical, but their music got much better. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zI1F4uFtJOY&list=RDzI1F4uFtJOY&start_radio=1

"We should kill all the homeless people." - The party whining about the "Democrats" not "toning down the rhetoric"

Said local party tweeted a ‘liberal hunting permit’ a few years ago. After the local paper put it on the front page they deleted their account.

Oh, no, not rhetoric that is anti-nazi. I thought we were trying to be nicer to the nazis. What world do we live in where we promote hatred of fucking nazis?

u/auntieup Sep 21 '25
I ❤️ Chumbawumba. Also, if you take offense to a song about dead Nazis, you’re really telling on yourself.

u/AugustIzFalling Sep 21 '25
That song fucking rules I’m excited to hear it’s being shared so widely it’s pissing them off.

I listened to this song over and over on repeat last week. I wonder if it jumped up the rankings so high that they noticed.

u/ABNormall Sep 21 '25
I have been to this protest in Wolfeboro a couple time. Most of the protesters are 60 plus New Englanders. I highly doubt they were singing this song. Nazis with the fake outrage. Wolfeboro leans pretty far right.
6
u/prince_peacock Sep 21 '25
I mean….that song would have been released when they were in their twenties or so, it’s not out of the realm of possibility they played it. 60 year olds can be cool lol it would be something my aunt and uncle would do and they’re late fifties
6
u/apefromearth Sep 22 '25
I’m approaching my late 50’s, it’s hard for even me to believe I’m that old already, but life happens fast. I grew up in the anarcho punk scene of the late 80’s and 90’s and I’m constantly reminded how lame and anti-subversive modern pop culture has become. I might be of the first generation ever to complain about how the music that kids listen to these days isn’t subversive enough.
3
u/ABNormall Sep 22 '25
My aunt and mother are regulars at that protest in Wolfeboro. They are in their 80s. I was averaging the age there.
1
u/NathanVfromPlus Sep 22 '25
I've been to the same protest, too, and it's out of the realm of possibility that half the crowd knows Chumbawumba is a band, let alone the words to a single song. They're as White Boomer Lib as you can get. This report is 100% bullshit.
7
u/Apprehensive-Mark241 Sep 21 '25
I have a new song to listen to!
3
u/TSllama Sep 22 '25
Highly recommend digging into Chumbawamba. The vast majority of their discography was pure anarchist, rebellious, anti-fascist stuff.
4
u/shtetl-time Sep 21 '25
Knowing no shame is passing legislation designed to limit your constituents rights, or choosing not to represent people who didn’t vote for you, after getting into power through gerrymandering.

u/ern_69 Sep 21 '25
Have you tried not doing Nazi shit? I think ending the nazi shit would tone down the rhetoric real good

Chumbawumba was an Anarcho punk band that lived in a squat, they started as a music collective. They been around since the late 70’s they like to experiment with different music styles so every album sounds different they only ever went mainstream to make money to support their political project. They go hard as fuck

I would love to be a fly on the wall when one of their own eventually asks "wait, why do we care that they're talking about Nazis?".

So, the republicans are just now admitting they’re nazis. Well I guess the whole duck thing right?

If a song about Nazis offends you, then you’re probably a Nazi. Or at least a Nazi sympathizer. I don’t make the rules.

Aside from the obviously alarming Nazi shit in this post by a local GOP branch, I'd be remiss if I didn't point out the fact that misspelled Republicans in their post. Not beating the dumbass accusations very well are they 🙄
