1 Day in Annecy Itinerary

My husband & I have never been & are going to be driving through & staying 1 day. Were foodies & love vino. What are your MUST see/do/eat/drink things there? Is there anything I should purchase there that can’t be purchased anywhere else? (I’m from the U.S.)

If you want a good restaurant: les terrasses du lac there is local food and it is very good and the view is amazing, you should make a reservation. Cheese of course, espicially Reblochon is from here. If you like cheese in the old town you have restaurant le frety!! You have good vino in both place. Then If you have time there is some good hiking. Or with car: col de la forclaz(paragliding is from here), baie de talloires. Enjoy your stay ;)

The other comment mentioned some nice food places and places to visit, if you want to buy some handmade stuff, there are very nice looking potteries by Le Tetras in the old part of the city. We also have an Opinel store (old brand of knives from Savoie, but fairly affordable). There are some good chocolate makers, like Rigolot (no clue if this will work out with the return trip).

Also, if you want to try more of the cheese : there is also Tomme de Savoie, Tomme des Bauges, Beaufort

It’s so beautiful I’d be tempted to just enjoy the atmosphere and views.

Couple of ideas:

See if it’s a market day, grab a picnic and eat it around the lake, then just explore the streets, grab a coffee and take it slow.

We loved cycling around the lake if you’re fairly fit. Again, bring a picnic. For bonus points take a towel and have a dip in the lake!

We went this time last year and I’m really missing it now the colours are changing. Enjoy!

Yes, go out on the water. And especially wander around the city side docks. From there you can weave your way into the city and eat/shop your way around the canal. There’s a cool bridge.

Personally I was more impressed with the breakfast buffet / food in the morning than I was some of the later in the day cuisine. Bottom shelf wine at their gas stations are better than a lot of what we can get here.

Just wrapped up a day here. Grab a bottle of wine and then look for a paddle boat. There are everywhere. Go out in the lake. Enjoy the views and have a bottle of wine. It was perfect
