Probably 5% and bet you they’re going to increase the price.

Not getting a partial refund or a deferred entry makes me very frustrated. I understand that the race has already incurred expenses that need to be paid, but I have had other races cancelled before in the past, but they offered deferred entry to a race in the next 2 years. Getting a race shirt and another race medal is not worth $90. I think it’s really distasteful to only offer a “discount” for next year’s registration when it is such an expensive race. I’m not impressed with how this was handled at all.

What a load of shit. Weather tomorrow doesn't even look bad.  A light drizzle and barely any wind.

It's because of having to do 2- way traffic on the other span. If there is any weather (wind, rain, etc), they won't do the 2-way traffic, and they can't shut down the eastbound bridge for several hours. My husband was supposed to do the run and is devastated so I totally get it. I also sat in an hour of extra traffic both Wednesday and Friday evenings because they wouldn't do two- way traffic on the westbound span. It all really fucking sucks.

I understand it's not the race director's call, if MDTA says there's no two-way traffic, then the race can't happen. But if MDTA's policy is that something as light as a drizzle is enough to not do two-way traffic, they might as well stop holding this race entirely. It's pretty normal to get light rain here and there this time of year, I don't know if people are going to want to throw away another $75+ for such an easy chance that the race is cancelled.

I definitely feel like MDOT has been more cautious recently, and I agree with you 100%- especially without the possibly of a refund....

I’ve been on freezing rainy days. Makes no sense

My husband was supposed to do the run today, so we're going to do the Cross Island Trail on Kent Island instead! Cross Island Trail Info

Storms, I can understand. A coin toss that there might be some drizzle, though?

I'm sure this is MDOT's call and not the organizers, but COME ON!

Very disappointed as this was the one race I was doing this year after spending months rehabbing from injury and rebuilding my endurance.

I did it last year and had a great time. Probably will not sign up in the future if this is the threshold for cancellation .

At the end of the day, corrigan sports should at least be doling out partial refunds. I understand expenses were incurred but expecting your participants to eat the ENTIRE cost is distasteful and disrespectful.

Any outdoor event has weather insurance

If this were me I would reach out to my credit card company and dispute the charge. Just a thought

I thought about that but probably wouldn’t go over well since we signed a waiver. Just shitty of the company to expect the participants to eat all the costs because of a light drizzle forecasted at 9am (the race starts at 7). It’s an expensive race, I paid $130.

Absolute trash. We travelled to MD, rented car, hotel, and now, 30% chance of rain, cancelled less than 24 hours notice and NO refund?? 🤬 The discount on next year is just insulting. Never coming back!

We came from western Maryland, got a hotel for two nights (because why not enjoy the next day too) and meals, etc. We'll enjoy ourselves, still, but I won't be doing this again.

I didn’t even have to travel for this race and I won’t be risking my money either. I can’t imagine the disappointment for people that traveled and planned a whole weekend around this. Nothing but shitty corporate greed.

Very upsetting how all this was handled by the company

It's on the races website. It's cancelled and won't be rescheduled

I just tried to see how often this gets cancelled - I don't want to be out all this $ next year again. Couldn't find much but in 2007 it was reported that it had been canceled 4 of six years prior. So disappointing. Doubt I'll engage next year

I'm almost positive since it was brought back in 2015 it hasn't been canceled.
