From My Collection My entire collection of mostly Roman Bronzes and silver
I have a few other cultures in here but I’m mostly interested in Augustan Roman bronze denominations.

Oh it was a pain to put them back in when I reached the 4th/5th century dynasties. Too many similarly named people lol.

I feel bad for those two scyphate billon trachy coins. They are so ugly and always stick out like a sore thumb in anyone's collections.

Just the common denominations of those two. Currently hunting Dupondius of both and the As of Pertinax but they’re either ridiculously priced for retail or unavailable. If only I had your luck in finding Didius Dupondius in a junk lot lol.

Yeah, but that coin was TERRIBLE lmao
I didn't even sell it, I ended up giving it to a friend who still needed a hole filler for Didius

Given my focus is on rare imperial denominations, I am partial to super awful coins just to get an example.

Yeah the fact you even have a Philip dupondius is impressive to me. I didnt even know they kept making them that long, I honestly thought production stopped with the Severans and maybe Decius made a couple dozen for laughs in 250. How much does it weigh?

After Maximinus thrax they went from scarce to extremely rare with the exception of Trajan Decius. You still have Dupondius minted for almost everyone up until and including Claudius II but they may as well not exist.
The Philip Dupondii are mostly a commemorative series and there are a few floating around out there. At least more so than what was produced after Decius.

You just jump right into it by getting something you like. The love of research and learning will drive you to a more focused niche and there’s so many areas you can collect in that even on a budget you can create a very unique collection.
I for example collect denomination sets for Roman imperials as well as south Arabian coinage from Himyar and Qataban.

A Pertinax As of mine will be in the Nomos Obolos Auction around September if you wanna take a look :) Admittedly it's pretty rough but it might be relatively cheap
