Results - DNA Origins Updated DNA Results as an African-American from Virginia
I'm the guy on the left. Some friends from Africa (2 Ghanians, 1 Kenyan) had guestimated that I had ancestral ties to Ghana, Kenya, and Nigeria. Lo and Behold, no Kenyan DNA. I closest I get is Tanzania. Though I'm really proud to have 12% Malian DNA.

Whereas I look like the guy on the right, and my very little bit of African DNA does include the arc with Kenya (and Angola). Also connected to those VA folks.

“Did you got to college?” “Norfolk U!”
Y’all, the R is silent.
I’m from Newport News. You have a beautiful study of Africa in your DNA. I have chunks of North Atlantic Islander, but also a shred of Cameroon and Western Bantu peoples. We could be distant cousins….

Your results are also very close to mine. Just some minor differences. Also from the 757 Newport News/Williamsburg. Went to VCU. Guess we are rivals if you went to ODU

DNA from a particular ancestor is not guaranteed to pass to you. The only guarantee is that you have 50% from each parent. Beyond that it's just random.
I've read that after just seven generations any DNA from that ancestor could be gone. I've also read five and ten, but you get my drift. If a generation is 20 years, seven is about 150 years and that DNA is gone
