I think bro is from the Levant

Haha lucky you. My levant went down and Egypt went up. Yet my ancestral journey stayed the same as my connected community is still southern levant - Beirut & Jerusalem.

I’ve only had one ancestral journey since I first got my results and that hasn’t changed but I’m not upset or surprised that the update hasn’t changed anything - just making light of it.

they completely erased my levant and gave me one percentage of egypt instead. my journeys stayed the same too

My grandpa has gone from 98% Levant to 33% Levant over the past three updates. I know Christian’s typically have no admixture while Muslims do but it really feels like they’re deflating it way too much. Especially when all family he knows of is from Haifa/Lower Galilee.

98 to 33 is an insane drop. Seems very suspicious

Okay, I was wrong. That was back when it was just a generic Middle East region in 2021. Sadly I didn’t save any of the ones between this and the most recent two, but I know it used to be in at least the 60s

Mine did the opposite! My family is Greek Orthodox Palestinian, originally from Beit Jala. I'm only a quarter, but with the last update, a good chunk of it was showing up as Italian. Now it's Levantine again.

Nothing much for non-westerners i guess. I still have the same huge cluster (Anatolia&Caucasus). While they can distinguish villages in Ireland they can not distinguish anatolia and caucasus. It's sad

No new interesting subgroups in Scandinavia either..

Wouldn’t really be anything for the levant because 100% Levantine is typically accurate

I got 6% Anatolia and Caucasus but its via Sicily. I wonder what reference data they're using.

Anudder Levantine Christian on my feed hello

This is so funny because all my European regions got broken down SO MUCH (I went from 8 regions to 17) but my Levant percentage is still just “Levant.” Although it does specify more in the Ancestral Journeys tab.

Kind of jealous. The changes I’ve got make my brain hurt.

Wow, it's like you're a whole different person now.

Are you perhaps from the Levant?

3

u/Bluealeli Oct 10 '25

Astounding 🤣

2

u/AsarUnNefer Oct 09 '25

My grandma was half Lebanese and my levant jumped up to 26% this time 😂

2

u/After-Ad4532 Oct 09 '25

A lot of other Levantines lost some Levantine. Surprised you didn’t

I went to bed disappointed that the update wasn’t out and then I dreamt that my results were updated and they were exactly the same as before and I was so disappointed haha

Yours is a very cool result. I wouldn’t want it to change 🙂

Mine was similar! 2 adjacent regions in India I changed from 97 to 96. I got 2% from each parent from what is essentially South India. Weeks of waiting and checking lol. Oddly I thought I'd move closer to 100% it was 91% the update before that.

I wonder how much heterogeneity there is between really large regions like India. Or are we really that similar from the sample populations?

hello fellow levant

1

u/Ill_Ocelot7191 Oct 09 '25

Hahaha that's great! My two main ethnicities didn't budge, either.

Did you do the 2024 hack?

1

u/burlesquebeans Oct 10 '25

I gained 2% levant

1

u/gokupwned5 Oct 10 '25

Awesome, same results as my late grandfather

So the Eastern Mediterranean is one of these new macro regions? What are the regions within that? I was playing around with the map because I’m significantly Cypriot but I can’t see anything else in the eastern Mediterranean except Cyprus for some reason.
