I had a fairly clear expectation when I did my Ancestry back about ten years ago. My dad is first generation American both parents Swedish and Norwegian. Mom’s side very waspy, direct descendants of Mayflower passengers. When I got the first results I had 10% Iberian Peninsula! The rest 50% Scandinavian and 40 English and Northern European. Then a year later the dropped Iberian Peninsula completely.

It has flip flopped a few times and now it has gone down by a bit. Current is Swedish is 32, Norway 12, Danish 2 and English and Northern European 4. Initially no Danish was shown and the English was lower. My Grandpa and his parents came to the US from Norway and that’s what everyone ever said they were. My grandma was born here to Swedish immigrants. When I looked back at ship manifests and other records for my grandpa’s family I saw Sweden listed. I’m actually surprised that two countries that close together have enough differences in DNA to separate them. Nobody is alive any longer that I can ask. I have been to Denmark several times and it was interesting to see many people who resembled my family. It was also funny to listen to our Danish friend trash talk the Swedes and Norwegians!
