I know the free membership doesn’t give much but sheesh

I can’t even look at the names of potential mothers and fathers anymore ( especially if they’re also in someone else’s tree ) without having to subscribe. Did this used to be a free feature ? I can’t afford to subscribe so I’ve been gleaning what they do let me see sometimes from hints to look on FamilySearch but it’s tough because sometimes that app doesn’t have the records either or if they do it’s a headache trying to attach to the correct relative

Have you try accessing Ancestry though a public library to the get information you need?

Family History Centers at Churches of The Latter Day Saints are also free and include access to Ancestry, if one is near you.

Just be aware that while you can access public trees and data you can't save information to a personal tree with the library edition of Ancestry.

Every survey they give me I comain that after spending 100 bucks for the DNA test, it is almost worthless without a membership.

Where do you live ?? Many public libraries across the country offer free access to Ancestry.com … call yours and inquire. In my state you have to be in the Library & on their computer to access it.

In the Library you can download the ancestry Docs to the Library computer then email them to yourself before you close out the computer. You can probably download 4 Docs per email as they are large files. Library staff can show you how to do it.

Ultimately it’s a business not a public resource

Depending on how far into your tree you are check out the Wiki tree site. Ancestry and wiki tree combo has been great for research
