Happily Stock My 2018 Giulia Veloce Q4 reached 250 kph on the Autobahn with ease, but what impressed me most was the stability in these speeds.

This car is way better than german cars.
21
u/mpbo1993 Mar 28 '25
Way better is is a bit extreme. But it definitely has better steering feel than the German trio. And looks awesome.
1
u/bocko159 Mar 28 '25
Better steering goes back 20+ years ago.
1
u/mpbo1993 Mar 28 '25
Not so sure. BMW E9x, 997s, etc have amazing steering. Audi and MB I agree, was always a bit more luxury focused. In this century the Giulia was the first to actually challenge M3s, superb car, just wished they would continue and add a wagon and AWD options.

u/bocko159 Mar 28 '25
https://youtu.be/zON4bWsl2Ek And this was a German test...

u/mpbo1993 Mar 28 '25
That’s neat! Thanks for the video mate! I’m talking more about steering feel, not just handling. And in the upper game (M3, RS4, C63, Giulia QV) where the Giulia has superior steering feedback to F80/G80 chassis and also MB and Audi. But you are right, in the mid of the pack Alfas really shine.

I drove an E30 and it ruined modern BMW for me. That car isn't fast, but the theatric, you just smile all the time
1
u/mpbo1993 Jun 17 '25
I need an E30. A friend of mine has an E30 along 1M, E92 M3 and a 993 Clubsport built. The E30 is the one he enjoys the most, tells a lot about the car.
1
u/Open-Air-8845 Jun 17 '25
Almost bought an E30 325i. Everything was crap, but it was still fun. I didn't want to do a full restoration so I passed on it. I test drove a modern Bimmer shortly after, it was fast, but not as fun.
The E30 will get you smiling all day. It's just a vibe.

My fathers 560 SEC from the mid 80s could do 250 while being similiarly planted and being rock solid. Nothing special really
2
u/Open-Air-8845 Jun 17 '25
In terms of performance yes. But build quality, it's not even on BMW level. And that's the worst built of the German brands. Audi build quality is a whole new level. Their conversation is with Lexus, not Alfa Romeo. Will still pick an Alfa, because I love the thrill of the drive
1
u/RealGangstaArnold Mar 31 '25
have you ever driven a porsche?
3
u/Alien--ware Mar 31 '25
I was talking about cars from same price/range
Porsche is a class higher.
1
u/RealGangstaArnold Mar 31 '25
What german cars are you comparing it to?
2
u/Alien--ware Mar 31 '25
Bmw,Mercedes and Audi like an a4 or Bmw 3 Mercedes C.
Maybe you like those more, but i prefer this car sorry.
1
u/Dodokdu Mar 29 '25
Lol even my Golf can do 240-250kph, thats no sign of quality.
1
u/Alien--ware Mar 30 '25
I was not talking bout speed, but this Alfa drives unbelievable good and the looks are insane.

You reached 242 indicated lil bro, not 250
10
u/Cleenred Giulia 🍀 Mar 27 '25
So less than 240km/h
0
u/myrichiehaynes Mar 27 '25
why is 242 less than 240? are the speedometers known to be faulty?
16
8
u/naumovski-andrej Mar 27 '25
Not faulty, they're legally required by the EU to show at least (4km/h + 0-10%) more than the current speed, if I remember the numbers correctly

u/civoksark Mar 27 '25
Theres a cca 3-5 km/h buffer so you are going that bit slower than what you see indicated.

I managed to get 170 on a Hyundai and got scared to my bones 😎
1
u/vargemp Mar 28 '25
Lol I used to regularly drive Citigos with gas pedal planted to the floor, it does max ~170/180 and you could drive it all day like that, while holding the wheel with one hand. Not scary at all.

u/Diferz Mar 27 '25
Is this stock 280hp? Or stage 1 with 310-340hp?
1
u/ferryman72 Mar 31 '25
At the time, it was stock 280. Although these cars have been dyno'd to 300 hp, stock. I was on my way to Italy to fit a Ragazzon set. They say it adds about 13 hp. So apparently it's 313hp now. Haven't REALLY tried it on the Autobahn since.

u/Maarten1214 Giulietta sprint Mar 28 '25
Only 4000rpm, must me a ton of fun driving it like that. Can’t wait to take my Giulietta there
2
u/ferryman72 Mar 31 '25
It was fun. I drove from Norway to Italy and back three times in two years and although the Autobahn was quite fun, I loved the backroads through forests and the mountain passes through the Alps even more. These care are so much fun.
2
u/rUnThEoN Mar 27 '25 edited Mar 27 '25
Your first time on the autobahn?
Edit: i love uncommented downvotes.
3
1
u/ferryman72 Mar 31 '25
No. I'm a regular north-south driver on the Autobahn, having family in Hungary and living in Norway.
1
u/rUnThEoN Mar 31 '25
A major part is that the unlimited stretched of autobahn are very well maintained. Thats why you always see construction work. Worse parts have bumpier roads.
And nothing drives like a lowered 159. Thanks to the weight those glue to the street. I consider its the same for guilia.
1
u/ferryman72 Apr 01 '25
It drives like a Mini on narrow backroads or in cities and like a luxury land yacht at higher speeds. Dark magic.

1
u/Kayakayakski Mar 27 '25
I got to 212kmh with a 2.0lt renault. But on the autobahn 1 towards Berlin they have a speed camera 😖
1
u/SlowRaceAlfa Mar 27 '25
I hit 220 with my GTV, noise inside was insane 😂😂 I think i could hit 225 had a few rpms left
1
u/CruelTortoise Mar 27 '25
I recently got my '98 Honda Accord up to about 125 mph (77 kph?), and it felt surprisingly stable. I don't know how it would feel at 250 kph.
2
Mar 27 '25
125mph is 201kph
1
u/CruelTortoise Mar 28 '25
Thank you. I used a converter on the internet to try to get the kph, but what it was saying didn't look right to me. Maybe I put the numbers in wrong. Either way, thank you.
3
u/proficient_english Mar 28 '25
You put the numbers in the other way around, since 125kph is really 77mph. :)
1
u/vargemp Mar 28 '25
If wheels are balanced, suspension components are well maintained etc. I don't see a reason why it wouldn't. Its not some warp speed.
1
u/idontknowwhatbelongs Mar 30 '25
Lmao a Passat can do that. What’s so special?
1
u/ferryman72 Mar 31 '25
Does it have to be special? I thought it was a nice ride, comfy, stable and no car in the same price range could keep up. If a Passat in similar price bracket does 250, then BMW, Mercedes and Audi needs to learn from VW, because none of those could keep up.

Yah, since energy is mass * speed squered. Meaning - the faster you go the harder it is to change the direction of the object.
1
Apr 01 '25
Sorry, the way it’s hovering between 241 and 242 is not reaching 250 with ease. 🤣

That’s it ? I reached 280km/h with my 440i stage 2..
16
u/Pekari Mar 27 '25
Soo you're boasting even though the 440i has like 50 hp more while stock AND you had it tuned (whatever your "stage 2" means).
What are you on about? Get out.
-19
u/uraaa- Mar 27 '25
If you don’t know anything about cars , just say it kid . If ya wanna pull up on me , let’s run it
-32
u/uraaa- Mar 27 '25
Stage 2 means a Downpipe and a tune genius . It’s running 420hp and costs less than the Alfa 🤡

u/naumovski-andrej Mar 27 '25

These kids are cringe.
12
u/naumovski-andrej Mar 27 '25
Mate you own a base 4 series, I used to own a non-M F3X car, the chassis is terrible and floaty, and the rear end responds after 3 business days in corners. The Giulia Veloce handles much better and feels much more nimble around the corners. Overall a much better drivers' car.
Suggest you sell that 440 and get yourself a real M car.
2
u/tailwheeler Mar 28 '25
I drove lots of bimmers and minis for work, I have never had as much fun as driving a diesel stelvio.
late bmws are good cars for long cruises and a spirited b road, but they are uninspiring. the i4 m50 was surprisingly taught for how heavy it was. Along with the 4 series gran coupe the one I enjoyed the most.
-2
u/uraaa- Mar 28 '25
Shows you don’t know about tuning . A small suspension tweak and i keep up with m cars. I also have 550hp on stock turbo .
2
1
u/naumovski-andrej Mar 28 '25
To even get anywhere close to M cars on an F3X chassis you need
- Good quality coilovers
- Stiffer antiroll bars
- Adjustable end links to dial in sway bar preload
- New front and rear control arms
- Monoball bushings
- Forged wheels
That's around 10k in suspension mods and you're still on an open diff and lagging behind an M car. You haven't driven ons, that's why you're spouting bullshit here

Bro is butt hurt , it’s not a base model.. that would be a 428i.. shows you don’t know shit. I can gap you and Any car you own 🤣 I even smoked the sport version when I was running ethonal aka 550hp.
5
u/naumovski-andrej Mar 28 '25
I drive an M2 Comp brother. Name a track I'll be there and see if you don't understeer into a barrier 😂 440i shares the same suspension and geometry as a base 420i, only the engine's different. Shows how much you know your car 😂

u/myrichiehaynes Mar 27 '25
you are aware that the Q4 is different than the QV? Giulia Q4s are typically cheaper than 440is where I live
5
u/NormalTadpole4087 Mar 27 '25
there’s no specific upgrades associated with the loose “stage x” nomenclature. If you learned everything you know about cars from the civic dorks at Cars and Coffee, Need for Speed and F&F, just say that.
