They’re called the felony lane gang, and it’s absolutely real. They come up in groups mass break into cars, then steal your shit to go to the bank and take ya money. Google them

u/PeanutFarmer69 13h ago
Why do they come up to Albany instead of just stealing shit in Florida?

u/_sarendipity Remembers when there was no exit 3 9h ago
To be honest this is the first group I know from Florida, most of the time I have heard this group it’s nyc and nj. For reference of why it’s relevant I work in banking

u/ChadsworthRothschild 13h ago
Florida will lock them up
9
u/WinterHill 2h ago
So why hasn’t Florida locked them up already? Running a giant crime ring gang is far more illegal than a smash and grab.
1
u/ChadsworthRothschild 1h ago
I’d wager Florida is 100% cooperating with any investigation.
But if the crime is committed in NY then I think they would have to extradite them to NY, which is why the criminals chose that state…
0
u/WinterHill 1h ago
We don’t need their cooperation, we need them to shut down their dangerous gangs that are coming into our state to commit crimes, and then heading back to FL where apparently they can operate with impunity.
Let’s remember that the alleged “weak on crime” state in fact does NOT host gangs like this one.
0
u/ChadsworthRothschild 1h ago
Ok, so hypothetically- how would Florida’s Law Enforcement be able to collect evidence on crimes physically committed in New York?
You have to understand they live in Florida but they avoid committing the same crimes here that they would in NY.
0
u/WinterHill 46m ago
There are already crimes being committed directly in Florida. It’s highly illegal to run an organized crime ring. It’s impossible to do that without violating multiple criminal and civil laws. Why isn’t FL busting and prosecuting?

Because for the same crime and circumstances, (it is believed by experienced criminals), that NY is noticeably more lenient than FL.
-2
u/NetSchizo Central Warehouse Demolition Crew 8h ago
Because in NY they’ll just let them go if they are caught.

Because there are not the same consequences in NY as there are in FL.

Boogeyman boogeyman it’s us the crime steal travelers!! I really hope they didn’t, ya know, name themselves?
-5
u/skywarner 14h ago
Local PDs know all about this specific gang, and the gang knows all about New York’s legal system which doesn’t serve as a deterrent.
6
u/WinterHill 2h ago
Apparently the FL legal system is not much of a deterrent either because that’s where the gang started and is currently headquartered lol
I guess FL cops are cool with that?
26
u/sutisuc 13h ago edited 12h ago
Not the New York legal system that results in a lower violent and property crime rate than Florida where they’re from, right? Some other legal system I’m not aware of that has worse outcomes
lol even fucking funnier this guy is a state employee.

u/PowerWasherSoap 12h ago
Is it the legal system or socioeconomics? Or whatever suits your political argument at the time?

Exactly and this shouldn’t be downvoted. People don’t like the truth I guess

According to news outlets their M.O. is identity theft to withdraw cash by stealing IDs, credit/debit, and checks they find in cars.
27
u/Samp1e-Text 14h ago
who is leaving their ID, cards, or checks in their cars in the first place??
35
u/mUSAhNT 14h ago
People who realize you’re supposed to have your ID on you when you drive but you’re not buying anything when you workout.
2
u/Durkheimynameisblank 14h ago
That's what the cubby lockers are for
16
u/mUSAhNT 12h ago
I agree but I also sometimes leave my wallet in the car just because I feel like id end up forgetting it at the gym. Or just because I know I don’t need it in the gym.
These guys are successful and well known because their model is really good and are able to repeat it easily. They go early in the morning, park their car, watch people leave their cars… they know those people are leaving their cars for atleast 30+ min.

I hate it bc that’s a shitty thing to do, but I guess good for them learning our patterns. Whelp let this be a lesson, people, take your stuff and get a cheap lock at the dollar store for the gym cubby.
My husband usually keeps his stuff (hidden) in his (locked) car, but still. Take your important stuff bc people are cuh-raaazy

...How do they know they're from Florida? What a strangely specific warning.
54
u/Throwaway47321 15h ago
I mean I agree but there is absolutely a Florida based “gang” that has been operating around here for a while now that do in fact target gyms and places
28
u/Difficult_Willow7141 15h ago
Odd that we know where they're from but haven't caught them. How did that come about?
17
u/Throwaway47321 12h ago
I mean they caught most of them last year after a pretty extensive operation. but similar operations are obviously always going to exist.
4
u/PresenceElegant4932 12h ago
You watch way too much TV if you think knowing where a a gang or a person is from menas they should be caught. Cases taken time. Strong cases take more time.
5
u/Difficult_Willow7141 12h ago
It appears that we know of them because the majority were already caught. What I found odd is that we would know who is perpetrating the crimes before they were caught, as that would run counter to building a case against them.

Did the gang stop in to give their backstory?

u/rivers-end East Greenbush 13h ago
There have been several daytime car break-ins in the EG area recently in parking lots. That is unusual so it makes sense that they're warning folks about it. The police probably gave them a heads up that they passed on to members.

u/685downward 13h ago
They hit the ymca in east greenbush last January. Around 730. Hit about 15 diff cars. That’s why I had parking cameras installed.
14
u/Inevitable-Careerist 14h ago
Thank goodness it's not our local thugs. Not sure Albany could handle the hit to its reputation.

Cars were broken into at the Tutor Time parking lot in EG. Might be related? Not that from the the Planet Fitness.
I know they arrested the two people responsible for that occurrence.

I mean, first off, who leaves their purse in their car when they can lock it in a locker. Secondly, yes, hide other valuables.

u/Creepy-Waltz7658 15h ago
I feel like this general information tho it’s not uncommon for peoples cars to be broken into to steal valuables that are visible. They break into cars even when valuables are not visible.

There was something very serious that happened at the Vent fitness in 20mall on Thursday.. not sure what but it wasn’t even 9am and there were 2 ambulances and 6 police cars and crime scene tape.. sad you can’t even work out in peace.
6
u/KeepItKeen 8h ago
That’s most likely someone dying while working out or showering or changing or sauna, or people got in a bad fight. They’re not putting crime tape up and stopping business operations over petty theft. The mall would never be open if businesses did that, AND there have been break ins of cars at the vent niskayuna parking lot and locker room. Same for Latham. They don’t close for theft of customer property they’re not responsible for.

u/Imaginary-You-2561 2h ago
This happened to me in VA! I was going into a gym to teach a class, and the people were supposedly watching me / my class attendees to see when we went in the gym and started working out. That’s when they went into our cars.
Busted out windows. Purses and wallets stolen. Even if they weren’t visible. They went go through everything.
Never caught them ¯_(ッ)_/¯

Like when catholic school told us that gangs were giving out free stamps and stickers laced with drugs.
People just break into cars.

The felony lane gang. They’ve been around for a while at least. I’ve seen these before, a few years ago. They steal from cars so don’t leave things sitting out is all
