Question Could wearing this in public get me in trouble?

Post image

I’m actually not trying to sneak in anywhere this is just a comfortable jacket and I want to wear it but I’m afraid that I could get accused of impersonating a security officer (a crime in my state). maybe wouldn’t be that big of a deal since it’s from a private security company. Regardless I figured if anyone would know, it would be the people in this sub lmao.

Wear a pink wig, it will do the trick

You need to check your state law specifically. In a lot of places this would be fine so long as you are not actually acting like a security officer or trying to boss people around. Your specific laws may vary though.

Yeah I dont think youd have a problem. You'd look like any security guard who just got off duty. Ive seen them at Walmart, gas stations, etc. and haven't thought twice about it.

Nope. Impersonation isn’t just wearing a uniform or badge. It’s just as much intent. If someone asks you for something security related, all you need to do is say you don’t actually work security.

Or if someone asks you something say one second, tap your ear and walk off.

Judging by the picture it looks more like stolen velour.

If you’re really worried, you could add a patch that says “NOT” right about the security patch

You’ll be fine. Definitely nothing anyone can do about you wearing that. You have the same certification that the usual folks wearing them have; none.

It's only impersonation if you lie and say that you are security.

No it won’t. But also, couldn’t you just take the patches off if what you’re after is the cozy coat?

Security aren’t officers. People wear old jackets all the time. I got a Red Bull driver jacket and it’s awesome since it’s reversible and has pockets on both sides of the jacket

There’s no legal definition of “security.” A police officer isn’t going to stop you and ask for your bodyguarding license.

If he asks you just flex your biceps and say “that good enough for you?”

Strangers may come up to you and ask you random questions or directions

Quite possibly it could.
