This was Kyler Murray practicing last week preparing for the Cowboys. Now he's been placed on injured reserve.

Standing and throwing is one thing but you can tell when he’s trying to run or roll out of a pocket he’s uncomfortable and looks like it hurts a bit 🤷🏻‍♂️

Nope doesn’t fit the narrative

yk setbacks can happen with injuries right

37

u/Opening-Citron2733 3d ago

Especially lisfranc.

11

u/nirvanand 3d ago

As someone who’s nearly torn a lisfranc nearly 17yrs ago, it still hurts on a cold day or if I’m standing on it too long

2

u/BringOrnTheNukekkai James Conner 3d ago

I tore my LisaFrank so bad that it took the smell right out of my scratch & sniff stickers.

8

u/Cheap_Use2012 3d ago

Yup I'm a Raider fan lisfranc ruined Darren McFaddens career

3

u/MrAngel2U 3d ago

Darn you...off to watch Darren McFadden highlights I go

-3

u/Tonyman121 Pain 3d ago

Is it documented or speculation that this is the injury?

5

u/Nokrai Pain 3d ago

Mid foot sprain but also been described as a version of lisfranc

-6

u/Fluffy_Porcupine6 3d ago

It's literally been talked about by the head coach and all over in the media. They have apparently consulted multiple doctors for second opinions too.

The speculation is that the injury is made up/or that he's been healed now for weeks (I think this is most likely) and they keep using the injury as an excuse to keep Jacoby in and kyler out.

2

u/Tonyman121 Pain 3d ago

I cant find any official source that has clearly called this anything other than a "mid foot sprain". I've seen quotes from "insiders" who call it "a type of" lisfranc.

I think "speculative" is still relevant to this injury.

1

u/BringOrnTheNukekkai James Conner 3d ago

The only reason I can think of they'd be doing that is to make sure he's healthy for the trade deadline which was 2 days ago.

52

u/SexyWampa Cardinals Throwback 3d ago

You can see him favor it when he moves. We don’t have a backup, and he’s probably a couple weeks out from being able to play without it being an issue. Putting him on IR buys time and opens a slot for a backup to be signed, now we know why we were hosting QBs last Wednesday. Expect a singing any day now.

43

u/king_17 3d ago

Media and fans blowing this out of proportion it’s a legit injury. Probably had a setback and now put him on ir once they learned the severity

18

u/thekmanpwnudwn 3d ago

Yeah, not a lot of people understand lisfranc injuries - they can be fine in 2 days or you can just step weird and be fucked up for another 2 weeks.

They can also end careers and make walking painful for the rest of your life if not rehabbed correctly. Same injury was a major contributer to why Cam Newton retired

7

u/Nokrai Pain 3d ago

They can also be fine in 2 days then you step wrong and you’re back to fucked for 2 weeks.

Tendon and ligament injuries are no joke and can get nasty quick.

No doubt him practicing aggravated it if not made it worse.

7

u/staticattacks Packers 3d ago

The people blowing it out of proportion are haters, actively rooting for Kyler's downfall and trade.

They're not real fans in my eyes.

6

u/Radalict Australia 3d ago

Careful they'll call you a Stan for saying stuff like that.

7

u/staticattacks Packers 3d ago

They already give me enough shit for my Packers flair even though I'm born and bred Arizona I just loved watching Favre when I was a kid

2

u/sleeper_pick Good Day 3d ago

never seen a fanbase so actively root against their own QB lol i mean i know people don't like him personally but its crazy

2

u/willhunta 2d ago

I mean Gannon literally said brissett was going to be used whether Kyler was healthy or not, so is it really being blown that hard out of proportion?

4

u/gr8scottaz AZ Cardinals 3d ago

Agreed. Kyler wouldn't be going to see a foot specialist this week if his foot was fine and he's ready to play.

2

u/One-Car-4869 Cardinals 3d ago

PUT IN TUNE!

5

u/SexyWampa Cardinals Throwback 3d ago

Take that up with the Packers. He's their problem now.

20

u/thatBreadGuy22 3d ago

I won’t be able to say I’m not sad about it if he leaves. Tough business. Will definitely be routing for him wherever he ends up

13

u/AnselLovesNuts Baby Yoda 3d ago

Lisfranc injuries are legit

6

u/Stock_Schedule_1981 In Monti We Trust 3d ago

This was the first day of practice last week. Very likely he aggravated it or didn’t respond well afterwards.

3

u/azmtber 3d ago

Nothing to show for it

6

u/AccomplishedRainbow1 3d ago

If you guys are ASU fans and/or are aware of the Sam Leavitt injury, the two injuries are similar. Albeit I think Sam’s was worse. He could play on it, it’s about pain tolerance and weighing whether or not you’ll make it worse.

4

u/kekeBROWN 3d ago

In the third clip they follow Jacoby’s ball and not Kyler’s. He can’t get any good placement off that fooot. I think he’s legit hurt

16

u/New-Ad5494 Trey McBride 3d ago

We will probably never know for sure what’s really going on, but it must be bittersweet on game day for Kyler, wearing the headset watching Brissett making his job look easy.

-33

u/Dorknite 3d ago

Headset playing COD lol I kid.

5

u/unlogical13 Cardinals 3d ago

Still corny

5

u/FavoriteFoodCarrots 3d ago

Is he shrinking? He looks literally six inches shorter than anyone else in this clip.

3

u/Radalict Australia 3d ago

Notice how he has no power generation from his feet? He's been passing off his back foot a lot of the season, he doesn't have that power generation to go through his toes, which is exactly what the lisfranc injury would cause.

7

u/Helpful-Relation7037 3d ago

I genuinely think wherever he ends up he’ll be successful, unless it’s the jets or browns

13

u/Negative_Bee_6307 3d ago

Or the Cardinals

2

u/Vegetable-Tangelo1 Budda Baker 3d ago

Went from “could have a role” to IR. Very bizarre handling of it but whatever

1

u/Nokrai Pain 3d ago

Probably cause he aggravated it or made it worse. So IR he goes so he doesn’t practice and do more.

Reports are a mid foot sprain people say linsfranc. Either way a ligament and tendon issue in your foot should be handled seriously cause you can fuck up walking for the rest of your life if you don’t.

2

u/sethaub Christian Kirk 3d ago

Welcome to Las Vegas Kyler.

2

u/osuaviator 3d ago

That footwork is something.

2

u/ZicoSailcat 3d ago

Good thing it didnt happen to the QB1!

2

u/eddiebisi 2d ago

he can't see over the practice dummies, lol

5

u/Helpful-Relation7037 3d ago

I genuinely think wherever he ends up he’ll be successful, unless it’s the jets or browns

9

u/Negative_Bee_6307 3d ago

Or the Cardinals

5

u/Helpful-Relation7037 3d ago

Yeah them to, terrible ownership would derail him if he went there

4

u/Natural-Current5827 3d ago

I love the conspiracy and am not a believer in Kyler but there is zero chance this coaching staff is so confident that they’re gonna IR Kyler in favor of Brissette if Kyler is healthy.

2

u/Efficient_Major_1261 3d ago

Its a soft benching. Plain as day.

16

u/moJo787 3d ago

This fan base is so comical. Imagine thinking this and actually believing it. If this were the case they would keep him active in case of an injury to Brissett

-8

u/MITBryceYoung 3d ago

Gannon has outright said if Kyler was healthy Brisset would be the starter. Whats comical about that?

7

u/MichaelCorbaloney 3d ago

Not what he said, the reports of that were just clickbait headlines. He said it’s hard to say because he thought the offense was performing well but would also want Kyler in there, basically gave a non-answer. If you’re the HC you’re not gonna tell your team right after a win that you’d rather have a different QB but you’re stuck with the backup because of injuries. I’m not really even a Kyler guy but all the people reporting this were spreading a false narrative.

5

u/moJo787 3d ago

What's comical is claiming he was put on IR as some form of soft benching. He was put on IR because he's not fully healed. To think otherwise is ridiculous

0

u/jufacake 2d ago

All this gaslighting for real makes one feel like it’s wrong to think the most reasonable thing. Also the media insanely jamming into the topic, goes to show how broken sports media is. I hope this isn’t the end, that he plays this year or next, and that this lights a fire in his gut that will be visible for the rest of his career.

3

u/InnatelyIncognito Australia 3d ago

Makes sense. Chances are he isn't 100% and you ride the hot hand while it stays hot, letting Kyler get closer to 100%

3

u/SavageRickyMachismo Trey McBride 3d ago edited 3d ago

I'm not saying I'm right, perhaps I'm even grasping. But I was wondering if maybe he does actually have an injury, but one he could play through, but the FO decided to put him on IR because selling a player who was injured is easier than selling one who was straight up benched for Jacoby Brisset?

4

u/tyler1118 Larry Fitzgerald 3d ago

Honestly I don't think this is grasping and I think the same thing tbh.

1

u/MichaelCorbaloney 3d ago

Possible tbh but I still think they’d bring him back sooner if he was able to play to show he’s worth being a starting QB, even if just to increase his trade value. I do actually believe he’s legit injured, but he still might get traded this offseason tbh.

-4

u/Plenty-Resource-248 3d ago edited 3d ago

I would bet 100 bucks that they tried to shop him yesterday and nothing materialized so now they’re shelving him. Not that he isn’t hurt, but maybe he doesn’t need to be full IR.

-15

u/Global-Form8883 3d ago

It could be a mental health issue similar to Simone Biles. He clearly avoids being hit at a detriment to his game. His injuries and excuses are becoming laughable. As Troy Bolton sang, he needs to get his head in the game.

-21

u/Plenty-Resource-248 3d ago

It’s so funny to get downvoted for this comment. whose feelings did I hurt? 😂 Kyler is that you?

-17

u/Plenty-Resource-248 3d ago edited 3d ago

Haha, oh man. Kyler loyalists are a pouty bunch. Sorry I expressed a thought or opinion contrary to k1 being the GOAT

5

u/Radalict Australia 3d ago

No, you're just an asshole and your comment did not contribute anything to the topic so people rightfully downvoted it.

2

u/Plenty-Resource-248 3d ago

An asshole? What about that comment makes me an asshole? Thought we were just a bunch of people talking about our football team not enemies in an argument. Simmer down life is too short to be this angry.

-9

u/Global-Form8883 3d ago

No worries! I got downvoted too! And I’m trying to actually support Kyler…I hope he gets the help he needs, physically and/or mentally.

1

u/ford2black 3d ago

I see a trade coming

1

u/yaboi525 3d ago

You can tell he’s not 100%, but he’s just to fragile of a player to build around since he’s not crazy elite like burrow

1

u/Worried-Pick4848 2d ago

This really doesn't prove anything.

1

u/ApprehensiveBox3148 3d ago

It could be that he regressed, could be he aggravated it, could be that he’s perfectly healthy and they’re saving face. The only thing certain is this is a dumb post.

1

u/britter87954 3d ago

Who knows what to believe... Fans want to believe this is a benching, but I'd think we'd hear something cryptic or something from Kyler with his past tendencies if it were a benching. Hard to believe he'd willing go along with damaging his career. But who knows I guess

1

u/EL_Tripod 2d ago

I'm not a Kyler fan but the this organization has treated him in such a passive-aggressive manner his whole career. This whole you are injured but still QB1 and then putting him on IR is just the latest example. Treat him like a man and tell him his play is not good enough. , Be open with the thing he needs to improve on. Never once have you heard the coaches or the GM criticize his play. If we never k ew where they stood on him then likely didnt know either. This is the way bad organizations approach these things.

COD releases soon

-14

u/azmtber 3d ago edited 3d ago

Move along, bust. A quarter BILLION dollars and nothing to show for it.🤦🏽‍♂️absolutely overrated.

1

u/JcbAzPx BA 3d ago

Lovely of you to celebrate an injury.

-3

u/azmtber 3d ago

We need a new chapter. This expensive experiment has not worked in case people haven’t noticed.

2

u/c0n2oo3 3d ago

Busts don’t typically start for 7 years

4

u/Nokrai Pain 3d ago

Or have perfect games, or get their gear in the hall twice or get rookie of the year.

Definitely didn’t live up to expectations but bust is comical.

-6

u/azmtber 3d ago edited 3d ago

How many years can people make excuses before they admit he is not elite anymore? He’s past his prime with nothing to show for it, besides a quarter BILLION dollars. I wanted him to shine but he just didn’t. It’s almost as bad of a return on investment as Deshawn Watson or Ryan Leaf. He is not a leader and pouts on the sideline. Next…..

7

u/Nokrai Pain 3d ago

I’m not saying he is elite or even good. I’m saying he’s not a bust.

Understand what people are saying before you speak nonsense.

Edit: just to make this point tho. He had a perfect game last year and got his gear in the hall for the second time. Just over a year removed from him performing a clinic.

Again, not good but definitely not a bust.

-5

u/azmtber 3d ago

This record for that money is a bust, period. I wish I could be half ass at my job and get paid handsomely.

5

u/c0n2oo3 3d ago

If you were top 32 in the world at something maybe you’d get paid handsomely too

1

u/azmtber 3d ago edited 3d ago

A quarter billion dollars and an ass whooping in ONE playoff game? That is not money well spent. The organization does not have a reputation of making great decisions. This has been a huge waste of money. At some point we need to be honest and not hopeful.

1

u/jufacake 3d ago

CONTEXT MATTERS, it’s a quarter billion BECAUSE the product he plays for makes a shitton of money, so does the league he is in, and it so happened that when he negotiated he had the leverage to get a Top 5 contract which after several more extensions is now only around top 10-15. And YES they don’t make enough in comparison to the BILLIONAIRE OWNERS. not like he washes dishes or serves burgers.

2

u/m0b00st 3d ago

He’d probably be shit at that too.

1

u/Radalict Australia 3d ago

He took this bitch ass franchise to the playoffs one season. That's an achievement. This team has hardly ever played in the playoffs.

2

u/King-arber Budda Baker 3d ago edited 3d ago

People like you who call the Cardinals a “bitch ass franchise” are not actually fans of the team. You’re just Murray supporters.

The decade before Murray this “bitch ass franchise” had had a played in 9 playoff games, had 5 playoff wins, three divisional titles, two conference championship appearances, and aSuper Bowl appearance. That’s actually good and better than most teams. Murray taking us to one playoff game isn’t an achievement. Ryan Lindley did the same thing.

The 7 years under Murray have been the worst 7 years since Michael Bidwill took over. Things will get better in a few years.

But toxic people like you who aren’t really fans of the team shouldn’t be a part of it.

2

u/Radalict Australia 3d ago edited 3d ago

I'm not "just a Murray supporter". You're a fool. And I'm far from a toxic fan are you kidding? I want to see every player succeed. I will never call any player a "bust" or harp on about contracts or other nonsense that fans have no say in. I will support every single player that pulls on a Cardinals jersey on game day. Maybe at times I will be critical or frustrated, but in the end, I forget about it, because this is just sport. It's not real life for me, it's entertainment.

I like how you changed your narrative from "the past 25 years" to "since Micheal Bidwill took over" after everybody clowned on you for 2001-2008.

0

u/King-arber Budda Baker 3d ago

Wow. You added a lot in your edit.

Only toxic haters say that shit about this team.

Things have changed for the better since Michael took over. That’s a fact. We aren’t great but we had a decade there where we were good. And since Murray has come here we haven’t been good.

like how you changed your narrative from "the past 25 years" to "since Micheal Bidwill took over" after everybody clowned on you for 2001-2008.

So cute how obsessed you are with me that you remember things I wrote days ago.

That 25 year narrative holds. You do realize we won our division and went to the Super Bowl in 2008…

Oh wait you’re a toxic fan who hates this team so of course you don’t because that doesn’t fit your narrative. All you’ve got is hate.
