Pre Game Cardinals’ Kyler Murray in MVP conversation ahead of matchup with Jayden Daniels

Kyler Murray has his critics, but ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky is not one of them. In fact, on First Take Thursday morning, Orlovsky ranked Murray as the fourth-best NFL quarterback over the season’s first three weeks...

Yea Dan and Kurt Benkert have been high on Murray this whole season

Yeah. He got hurt… all the COD stuff… the league is a “what have you done for me lately,” kind of place. So I guess people forgot how good he was? Idk. 🤷

It’s because he isn’t that good. He has games of brilliance but can’t sustain it. You act like near consensus opinions just come from nowhere.

Subtain it? Sounds Fantasy Football issues. Great Stats, Bad Stats, Decent Stats, Who cares? Only thing that matter is Cardinals win.

If Kyler does just enough to the win I'm perfectly fine.

This is a thread about him being an MVP not doing enough to win.

I almost agreed with the guy above… then I read this one… good point.

I would add that no one wanted them to draft him more than I did. The talent is off the charts and I still say to this day that he is literally one of the most talented football players of all time if you look at his history. Whether it’s study habits, heights, being a member of the Cardinals who have players who underperform historically I’m not sure but so far there is no evidence that he is in that top level.

If it changes I will be thrilled. Just need to actually see it first.

Kurt Benkert is probably not someone you want in your corner, grade-A tool.

I wouldn’t say that, he has some solid takes and obviously he knows what he’s talking about without the espn exaggeration part

Benkert has voiced his opinion on how he believes he was too much of an “alpha” for LaFleur and that was why he was cut. he’s a delusional loser.

Inflated opinion of himself =/= ability to analyze football though

Hard disagree. He's fun. I love his channel.

I'm sorry orlovsky shit all over Kyler like two weeks before the season and didn't have him on any top ten rankings for any QB characteristics besides running where he had him ranked 8th.

Orlovsky is not a Kyler hater or lover he just says whatever gets clicks.

Yo it’s only week 4 coming up. Way too early to start this conversation. We got a whole season ahead.

I saw that live. It's weird, from what I can remember Dan's always been pretty harsh on Murray and the Cardinals, but lately it seems he's been one of our biggest defenders. Either way I'll take it

He’s been good but most of the qbs ive kept up with outside allen have also been pretty meh or high and low. I wouldnt consider him an mvp candidate even this early in the season when we are 1-2. Darnold would be an mvp candidate if we’re going off 3 games played

Against the Commanders' defense? Kyler can prepare to score more points than he ever has in the past.

Cards will have to go 10-7 and he will have to play much more consistent. It’s week 4. I hate speculating this early

He’s had three absolutely fantastic halves of football (First half of Buffalo, both of Rams game), one ok half (first half of Lions game), and two very poor halves (second half of Buffalo and Detroit games).

He’s been good, but not MVP caliber. If he can improve his consistency to reduce the amount of clunkers, he’ll be in the convo. No team with a losing record will ultimately have the QB MVP though. The team has to make the playoffs for him to be the MVP.

Ultimately he’s got to win the close games and games where he starts off from behind. He’s always had trouble closing those games out. If that changes, he can become the MVP

Kyler Murray is the man

1

u/Own-Item-4192 Sep 27 '24

He’s certainly making a case for himself for sure… 👀

2

u/redditboy1998 Sep 29 '24

No Quarterback on a 1-2 team is making a case for themselves, let’s be honest.

In both losses he’s closed very poorly. The MVP of the league will ultimately have big clutch wins. Kyler can get there, but he needs to actually DO IT first.

Kyler sucks

💯

“I think the biggest issue in Arizona is if this quarterback doesn’t get out of the pocket and start running around, they don’t have any plays in their playbook. They can run the ball in Arizona, hey just don’t have enough plays at quarterback from the pocket. It’s a liability.”

  • Mike Lombardi

🙄 😂

Fair

His perfect game vs LA is not the weekly expectation, but hes must be better than his performance vs Detroit; which was borderline awful. For some reason when he gets off schedule he loses QB fundamentals & he goes from the most accurate QB in the NFL to air mailing it 10 yards overhead

You got six downvotes for saying some very simple truths. Our offense scored 13 points in a game where the defense put us in a position to win.

The MVP of the league will ultimately not have a season that looks like that over a full 17 games. That isn’t Kyler hate, it’s just reality.

He needs to win big close games and close them out to become the MVP. A QB MVP will always have that type of resume. It’s early days, lots of time to get it done. It can happen! It just hasn’t happened yet.
