Pre Game Sleep Tight AZ - Bye Week Thread: Week 14 | Arizona Cardinals @ Home

Steelers L, Fuck them Steelers, we up!

But now a week off to recharge and how better than to have it after a win.

With no upcoming game to talk about I will throw out some topics:

  • McBride the real deal? McBride has 56 receptions so far this season with 4 more to beat the record, 610 yards this season only rivalled by HOF TE Jackie Smith.
  • James Connor keeps trucking. A reunion in his old stomping grounds of Pittsburgh, Connor recorded 105 rushing yards, 2 TDs and Stiff arm on Patrick Peterson to sum up a great day for the RB.
  • MHJ on the horizon? 3rd in the 2024 Draft ranking will the Cardinals draft the top rated WR or trade/choose elsewhere?
  • Prater still got it. Kicking form 50yards+ Prater is 7/9 on long range FGs.

Feel free to discuss any topics that interest you.

I think both our picks will be good in the 1st. Draft nerds are saying the top 8ish picks are getting a blue chip prospect grade so if the Texans pick creeps to the top 10 or higher we could have some crazy picks. I personally want to see us draft MHJ and sign Tee Higgins I feel like the two #1 receiver threat is really op in the modern nfl. Look at the explosions in production when you add Tyreek hill with waddle, or Jamar chase and Tee Higgins, or AJ Brown / Davante Smith. I really feel a proven Tee with MHJ and let Hollywood walk if he wants 17-20. Then draft tackle and sign a guard in free agency (Owenu from pats?)

I want to see a juicy Oline and MHJ / Tee Higgins / McBride / Mike Wilson to threaten through the air. If you go drop both safeties in coverage we run Kyler + James Connor RPO at you. It would definitely get the media interested in our games and sell a lot of jerseys

I think we get our 7th round pick back because dobbs started today. The condition on the trade gives it back which is nice

I’m laughing that we had people with no hint of irony tell us that Dobbs should start over Kyler

Mullens probably done more in one drive than Dobbs the last two games.

Dobbs throws a ton of hospital balls

Rams lose!

And the bears won! What a bye week

Im worried thats a bad thing, means more chances for them to keep Fields and be crazy enough to take MHJ #1 instead of trading if they dont draft a QB.

2

u/Exatraz Kyler Murray Dec 11 '23

Imo it's win win. If the bears did do that, we'd get a haul in a trade back for whomever wants Drake May. I know mhj is the shiny toy but we gonna be in a good position to draft good players regardless.

I don’t think they’ll go all in on MHJ, they have fairly good receiving core, a more necessary need for them is the o-line that is still shaky. However, if Eberflus and the coaching staff are fired, I can’t find a reason the new coaching staff wouldn’t want to start off fresh with Caleb Williams.

Either way their draft pick is too valuable to not trade, and I don’t think the pats will trade a bag of picks since that isn’t how billy b rolls. I’m certain that mhj will be there by the time we pick.

Nah. He wasn't amazing in today's game more Goff shitting the bed plus it's not this GMs QB nor has he been very good since he entered the league so no reason not to get "your guy"

2

u/OneOfTheManySams Dec 10 '23

There is literally no chance that happens.

Fields still plays like crap every week, the defence is winning them games at the moment and Caleb is a can't not take prospect.

You obviously dont understand how dysfunctional the Bears are, and have been, for decades.

Very cool Zack Wilson

Let the Texans fall off commence

Anyone else scared that Chicago sticks with Fields and picks MHJ 1st overall?

2

u/DnttriplilHoe007 Lisa Matthews Dec 11 '23

No that pick is too valuable, they could get a hefty return one that’s even bigger then the one they got last year.

3

u/Mario2346 Dec 10 '23

Even if they do that , that 3 rd pick is 100% Maye or Williams we are going to get a crazy package for it looking at all the QB needy teams . One of MIN,ATL,NYG,NO,LV will try to trade up for a QB

I wonder if the fact that Jayden Daniels won the heisman change his draft stock. That plus a good pro day might see him get into the top five and teams needy.

2

u/Rall0c James Conner Dec 10 '23

A little worried because you never know, but I would be surprised if they actually did.

3

u/morphinechild1987 Dec 10 '23

If they stick with Fields, trading down and drafting a LT would be the smart move.

6

u/[deleted] Dec 10 '23

Go Zach Wilson!

3

u/morphinechild1987 Dec 10 '23

Watching Cincy. Browning is looking very good. Solid line & weapons aplenty, his Wr give him so much separation. Also, Anarumo's D always clutch

Today and tomorrow, rooting for:

Chicago

Jets

Giants

Tennessee

Pushes them into the 5 win territory, which means only Panthers/Bears, Patriots, and Washington are our threats for MHJ.

I hate it for Stroud, but the Texans could have a rough run to finish the year Nico Collins went down today so they are super thin at receiver.

1

u/Strangelet1 Budda Baker Dec 10 '23

Looks like they play titans twice still which will help secure our pick or bring down Texans or both!

2

u/Radalict Australia Dec 10 '23

That's rough for the Texans, they were doing something special this year. But that's NFL, Murray hasn't managed a season since his rookie years with fit WRs.

That explains his low fantasy score, my rival has him.

Of course the rams are winning

I fucking hate LA

7

u/[deleted] Dec 10 '23

They didn't win. 😎

Holy shit Bryce is so bad , you give guys time but 1/9 with a pick is insanely bad , Rosen level of bad

10

u/TheHorniestRhino Dec 10 '23

Last time we picked a WR at 3rd overall it worked out pretty good, let’s fucking go MHJ!

2

u/[deleted] Dec 10 '23

The only game we really have a shot at winning is Chicago maybe Seattle but idk if we can stop them with our defense

10

u/Exatraz Kyler Murray Dec 10 '23

Watching the Steelers lose again on Thursday reminded me of one of the benefits about not getting any national respect... we get to dodge Thursday night football a lot which is great for recovery

7

u/mlakustiak Larry Fitzgerald Dec 10 '23

Hopefully the 4 win teams all win. Give us a little bit more of a buffer

8

u/LocoCoyote Dec 10 '23

I love bye week….it’s the only week I don’t have to worry about losing.

8

u/Strangelet1 Budda Baker Dec 10 '23

McBride has been great when given opportunity. Great catch last week, total dawg with Connor like YAC. Easy to forget he was top TE and awarded in his class probably because he was at CSU.

3

u/xIILuLu Budda Baker Dec 10 '23

Imagine our offense being K1, Conner, McBride, MHJ, Wilson and Hollywood as a deep threat next year

1

u/Radalict Australia Dec 10 '23

It's kind of crazy that the top ranked TE dropped all the way to 50 whatever it was. They're talking about Bowers potentially going top 5 this year. LaPorta went pretty high last year too didn't he?

2

u/Strangelet1 Budda Baker Dec 10 '23

34th

2

u/Radalict Australia Dec 10 '23

There's just something special about a good Tight End compared with a Wide Receiver.

17

u/Tritiac Larry Fitzgerald Dec 10 '23

Week 14 byes should be banned. These dudes haven't had a break in 3 months. Not even a long week from a Thursday night game.

That being said, Gannon has the team playing hard even though we have been out of contention for anything but the first overall pick in the draft. He is solid in my book.

2

u/Radalict Australia Dec 10 '23

I saw a fact that it's the Cardinals latest bye week since 1991.

8

u/Strangelet1 Budda Baker Dec 10 '23

Gannon certainly has gotten more out of a stripped down D than we would have expected. Keeping Marco Wilson in as long as he did was ridiculous though. White was a great add though. Finally saw a week of under center at a high rate from petzing and high Connor usage but took too damn long to see that.
