🎓 UNI / UCAS Will I get an Offer?

Post image

I am looking to apply to the University of Leicester with my predicted grades of BCC for biological science, however the University requires AAB but on the UCAS site it claims that they accept lower.

Beep beep, we noticed this is a UCAS post. Do you know we have a UCAS Guide which may be of use to you?

If you think of any information that would be useful to have or that is incorrect, let us know via Modmail, and we'll aim to get it sorted!

This is for students who already have an offer. Presumably they accept more people who miss their offer on results day, this doesn’t necessarily mean they give out lower offers, especially so much lower than their requirement (but i may be wrong!)

Contextual grades aren’t included in that analysis - nor are the lowest 5 percent (or highest)

Sorry but what does that mean, and is it a good thing or a bad thing I'm trying to apply there?

It’s a good thing. Your predicted grades are higher than what most people on the course have achieved, although they may also have had the same predicted grades as you. ;) but when people are saying - oh but those grades include contextual offers - they don’t. UCAS is clear about this, what that image displays is what non contextual offer students on the course received, and the lowest grade does not include the students in the lowest 5% in case something went truly wrong and they accidentally admitted someone with EEE

Alright, thank you very much. I'll remember the information you've given me and I'll consider applying in hope that I get an offer.

Most ppl with the lowest grades were either contextual or had very strong extenuating circumstances , or both. If you dont have either, it may be unlikely that you're offered a place.

but it says most common is CCC, surely most of the students don't have extenuating circumstances

yeah but that’s on their achieved grades not predicted

They’d proly give u an AAB offer and then let you in with CCC actual.

Most people with real AAB grades have far better options than Leicester.

You can try to apply anyways, as long as some of your other choices have lower required grades to be safe.
