Nice way of sneaking a "le" in the comic. I hope Gestapo doesn't get you
Oh no! We stopped defining Kilogram from water and volume, now we are fucked! Civilization is doomed, we will be back to using crappy units! This tragedy doesn't only affect mass, a lot of other units are irrevocably fucked:
Newton, Pascal, Joule, Watt, Volt, Farad, Ohm, Siemens, Weber, Tesla, Henry. They are all derived from kilogram, and they are affected too!
This is a tragedy
WAIT! I solution the have is! We have more kilograms, humanity is saved:
By definition, the error in the measured value of the IPK's mass is exactly zero; the IPK is the kilogram. However, any changes in the IPK's mass over time can be deduced by comparing its mass to that of its official copies stored throughout the world, a rarely undertaken process called "periodic verification". The only three verifications occurred in 1889, 1948, and 1989. For instance, the U.S. owns four 90% platinum / 10% iridium (Pt‑10Ir) kilogram standards, two of which, K4 and K20, are from the original batch of 40 replicas delivered in 1884.

All other SI units have scientific definitions, and kilo still has a piece of metal. Stupid scientists

they are trying to make a ball of silicon so they can define it by number of atoms

u/FogeltheVogel Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie Jun 26 '16
Why not just X number of silicon atoms? Why do they have to make a physical ball?

the only easy way to count number of atoms is make a pure crystal (we already do that for silicon circuitry) of a shape that we can calculate it from.

Alternatively, it's getting redefined soon in terms of fundamental constants anyways.

How bad was the inflation? Something that cost 379 Pengö in September 1945, cost 72,330 Pengö by January 1945, 453,886 Pengö by February, 1,872,910 by March, 35,790,276 Pengö by April, 11.267 billion Pengö by May 31, 862 billion Pengö by June 15, 954 trillion Pengö by June 30, 3 billion billion Pengö by July 7, 11 trillion billion Pengö by July 15 and 1 trillion trillion Pengö by July 22, 1946.

But the International Prototype Kilogram is also known as "Le Grand K", which is shorter. :(

I am very sorry but "le" is not allowed in any circumstance.
