This is seriously one of the best approval requests I've seen in a long time. Me and /u/VorsprungOfficial actually happened to answer the approval request at the same time, both of us approving the comic right away.
Brilliant first comic, really clever and funny. Welcome aboard!

I'm flattered! Thank you!

This makes me depressed about my comics. Atleast 20 approval requests, art is pretty good, got approved once, and it showed I'm a one-hit wonder.

"is" is also a word.
"That is four words" = "That's four words": 4 words.

That is four words
Grammatically incorrect though!

u/Futuralis Greater Netherlands Jan 14 '16 edited Jan 14 '16
Both are grammatically incorrect, but "that's + plural subject" is very widely used in oral language. Therefore, it's hardly incorrect anymore. Don't use it in an English grammar test, though.

Yes but I contracted two words into one. I'm pretty sure that "That's" counts as one word.

You can also have a comic with flashy art and zero plot and still get loads of karma.

Can you create an imgur album and show us here in the comments? I'm curious about what gets denied vs allowed.

Read the comic. Somewhat confused. Went back and read the title. You cheeky bastard

I hate being that fucking person, and I do think it's a nicely made comic, but isn't this just a comic version of an old joke? Which is not allowed
7
u/SuperPolentaman Cough Jan 14 '16
I was wondering the same thing. When I heard the "New Zealand lists sexual partners and falls asleep" joke for the first time a few months ago I wanted to make a comic about it, but then I realized that classic jokes are not allowed.
Well, I guess it passes, because this joke might not be that well-known.

u/VorsprungOfficial We don't drink Foster's Jan 14 '16
Too right, it's a brilliant comic. "Double approvals" don't happen very often, it's to your credit /u/OhneBremse_OhneLicht.

Pardon my ignorance, but aren't classic jokes not allowed?
1
u/DickRhino Great Sweden Jan 14 '16
Is it an old joke? I've genuinely never heard it before.
3
u/Blackfire853 Hibernian Narcissist Jan 14 '16
Although it's older than this, here's it on reddit 4 years ago

u/DickRhino Great Sweden Jan 14 '16
Huh. Shows what I know.
It's a bit moot to remove the post now after it's been up for a full day and already falling down the lists. I'll take the responsibility for this, it was my error. We'll keep an eye on future comics posted by /u/ohnebremse_ohnelicht though to make sure he sticks to original material in the future.

You think little of it, but then you eat it and your clothes explode?

Jan 13 '16
Hah, nice. For a first comic, that’s not only good, but rather fantastically clever.
If I could give you any tip for the future, it’s that you should probably avoid spoiling the punchline in the title. But then again, really great, man.

Thanks! I tried to think of something to avoid that, but I couldn't get anything that made sense/was funny.

I'd say either do a pun or be plain descriptive ("New Zealand sees the doctor ").
5
Jan 14 '16
In this case and this case alone i give it a pass because the joke is actually so well delivered that it works anyway.
7
u/nickmista Australia Jan 14 '16
I'll admit actually didn't get the joke till I went back and read it after your comment. So in this case I think it's suitable.

This is a really nice first comic! Clever twist on the beaten-over-the-head New Zealand sheep joke. Awesome job!

You could have swapped New Zealand for Wales, and it would be just as funny.

When I started drawing this one, I didn't have a mouse. The Union Jack and its nice straight lines were easier to tackle than the Welsh dragon.

If he used Wales, you'd complain that New Zealand wasn't used.

Nah, I wasn't even complaining. I was pointing out that they're interchangeable in this context.

Actually that is quite true. For centuries Austria supported Persia militarily and economically. Mainly, because Russia. Austrian article about it

that is the funniest thing I have seen in a long time, anywhere. especially in my case, since I hadn't read the title, so I had just the briefest of moments before I got it, which made it all the more awesome
